Totally new here. I ordered everything and need a once-over!

Hello! I've learned a lot about vaping from reading the posts on this forum. After seeing a youtube video of mechanical mod vaping, I knew I had to try it. I've smoked hookah for about 10 years, and I believe it's about time to quit. This looks like a safe and satisfying alternative. After reading everything on this site, I'm pretty stoked about vaping. Thanks for the great site.

These are the parts I've ordered after a good bit of research. If I've left anything off, please tell me! I ordered the Nemesis and Kayfun clones from Fast Tech, the juices from Mt. Baker Vapor and the batteries and charger from RDT Vapor. I'm in $200.90 for everything. What is a safe ohm level to vape at with this setup? Will it be flavorful? How would you rate the setup?

Nemesis Style Mechanical Mod (Mixed Edition)
Russian 91% Styled Rebuildable Atomizer (4.5mL)
3-Piece Anodized Aluminum Tubes for Nemesis (Red)
AW IMR 18650 3.7v 2000mAh (x2)
Xtar WP2 II Li-ion Battery Charger
Cartomizer and Atomizer Ohm Meter
Ekowool 3mmx12ft
100 ft Kanthal A-1 33
Switch Magnets for Nemesis Mod (10-Pack) (x2)
Cinnamon Roll E Juice Baker Vapor - 50ml+3 flavor shots
Green Apple E Juice Baker Vapor - 50ml+2 flavor shots
Hawk Sauce E Juice Baker Vapo - 50ml+2 flavor shots
Sweetener Electronic Cigarette Flavoring - 10ml
Blunt Needle Tip for dropper bottles | Blunt Needle bottle Adapter

Thanks in advance.

You are missing one of the most important pieces of equipment for a mech. mod and especially for rebuilding. You have to have a digital multimeter for measuring coils and batteries.

I should have mentioned that I have a multimeter for school already. Sorry about that.

Welcome to the party! Im not sure about your mod because Im new at this still but the Mt Bakers is a good choice. Im a big fan of theirs. Try the Blue Moo!!

If Blue Moon is anything like Starbuzz Blue Mist hookah, it's one of my favorites and I'll have to purchase some.

That's what you ordered to start with  ? I've been at this for almost 2 years and haven't wanted to bother with re-buildables. Be sure to do a lot of research on safety with that stuff.

I appreciate your concern, that's one reason I liked this site- you guys do everything safely. I have done a thorough amount of research. I'm aware of the dangers.

I was talking to them earlier today with their social media reps, I already ordered one and I'm hoping they're giving me an extra bottle for spending over $15. I also ordered the Hawk Juice and Dream Tea.

I'm excited for this.

the max amps on that battery is rated for 10a-i personally wouldnt go past .8 ohms, for subohming i prefer a higher rated battery (i use sony vtc4's), but with kayfun/russian clones i prefer my ohms sitting around 1.2-.8 ohms for daily vaping.

i'd also suggest a fuse for your mech as well-cheap but effective for safety.

I am pretty new to vaping but I am using a MVP v2 with a Trident v2 clone. I have been using 1.3-1.8 ohm micro coils on my RDA and it works well but can't go much lower since I'm using a VV. I'm not sure what the max amperage on the batteries your getting are but if they are 10amps I believe anything above .5 ohms should be within the safe limit but always check with an ohms law calculator to make sure you are at a safe amperage for a fully charged battery. If you want to go really low sub ohms you will want to get some 30amp batteries like the Sony VTC4s. Probably best to start with coil builds in the 1-2 ohm range to get a feel for it and be safe.

That looks like a really nice setup to me. If you find your enjoying your RBA you could look into getting a RDA for dripping too, Its nice for testing out flavors. I have tried out using silica wick but didn't enjoy it much in my RDA and have started using organic cotton for wick and it works really well. It's really easy to replace too since I don't need to rebuild the coil every time I replace it. The Ekowool might be a lot better than the silica though since it should be more absorbent.

For flavor you really need to play around and decide what works best for you, some people love really high watts for a hotter hit while others like a cooler vape. I am still playing around with different voltage/wattage settings to find what works best for me but on the RDA I prefer higher wattage. On cheaper tanks it seems like the coils cant keep up with really high wattage.

You should pick up a cheap resistance reader. This is extremely helpful for all builds--especially sub-ohm. That being said, your batteries are rated to 10 amps of continuous discharge, which means anything you build above .42 ohms is considered "safe." I'm not sure what the pulse ratings (discharge ratings for draining the battery for a short time) are but .42 is plenty low, and in the event that you have the switch held down in your pocket, your battery should be fine at such a resistance. Keep in mind that 33 gauge A-1 Kanthal is gonna be tough for super sub-ohm building. It's a good place to start though. Once you get your builds down with 33 gauge you may want to consider going bigger (lower gauge). Bigger wire = lower resistance. I'd wait until you get your builds down though.

Sensei,

Welcome to ECF!

My only recommendation (perhaps too late?) would be to have ordered smaller bottles in more flavors. I think the Cinnamon roll is excellent. (And my daughter has stolen every bottle of Moo Juice I've gotten so far!). But tastes DO vary, so you should try a bunch of different flavors to find the ones that really hit you!

I'd also toss in a couple of EVODS and CE4's just so you have extra (cheap) heads to play with, or either of these (which I like):

(Remember, you need something to vape on while you're rebuilding your Russian! ;-)

Which fuse do you suggest? I'd rather be safe than sorry. How do I avoid a short circuit? Will the fuse prevent that?

Looks like you've thought of pretty much everything Sensei. I would have gone with slightly thicker wire, say 30 gauge, but you can always get that later if you think it might be better than the 33.

Vape on!

I was actually going to get 32 gauge if they had it, simply because I'd read a lot of testimonials for it. Why 30 gauge?

Oh man, that's quite a shopping list.
As for preventing shorts, a fuse will help alot. There are several cheap 4-6 dollar fuse inserts that places sell, like this one:
Smoktech VapeSafe Fuse
Drop something like that in your nemi and you can adjust the pins for the extra space.
That takes care of most shorts in the battery portion.
As far as topper side goes, make sure when you rebuild attys that you pay special attention to keeping coils uniform and straight, without any extraneous leads hanging out.
Safety first. :)

Three suggestions: 1) get a "Kick" clone from FT, 2) order 28 and 30 gauge Kanthal from Temco, and 3) pick up a 22mm dripper (the Patriot from FT fits the bill).

1. Yes to Kicks! I should also mention that they double as 'fuses' quite well.

2. Another yes, having multiple gauges of wire is a must for learning new builds.

3. Not too sure about the Patriot, as it has the tendency to melt. Other than that, drippers are awesome.

Ok. I've got a few things from that site you recommended in my cart. Right now, I have 2 VapeSafe fuses, 2 refill stands, a battery case and 2 packs of sterile tips. Anything else I should add before checkout?

I added by edit a #4...cotton!
