Ok I've ordered a ton of flavors from TPA and after making several samples to try I come to realise that the list below tastes very similar. Anyone else have this issue I'll also write what I think about a few others. using 70/30pg 0nic

1.)Caramel and candy caramel seems bland at 10% gonna up it to 15
2.)Mixed candy caramel and apple 50/50 at 10% tastes nothing like a candy apple
3.)Got maltol crystals and mixed them with pg to dissolve, then added 15% tastes nothing like cotton candy just sugar syrup.
4.) Toffee tastes like nothing at 10% thinking about mixing with double chocolate to test.
5.) Butterscotch doesn't taste like butterscotch!!! more like caramel
6.)Brown sugar more like caramel or burnt caramel
7.) Was looking forward to Belgin waffle and tastes nothing like a waffle, bland at 10%
8.) Bittersweet chocolate extra tastes like nothing

These are the only ones I've had an issue with really out of about 30 flavors I ordered, anyone else have any taste issues with these flavors or should I just bump em up to 15-20%? also adding one drop sweetner and bav. creame to each 3ml I've made can that really disturb certain flavors?

thanks:?:

I usually mix to more then 10% with most flavors. I like my flavors strong and only use VG. I use at least 15% for a single flavor and 20% when mixing 2 or more flavors. With brown sugar I use it to add to other flavors like my chai tea or sugar cookie. With cotton candy try adding a drop or two of strawberry, blueberry or raspberry it will give a little flavor for the sweetness to work with. When mixing 2 flavors its not always a 50-50 mix that's best, you might need more of one then the other to balance the flavors. The 10% is just a starting place, many of my nicquids ( :) ) have more then 20% flavorings, my chai has 6 flavors and 24% total flavoring. DIY is about whay you like so don't be afraid to up the flavor concentrations if that's what it takes to make you happy. :)

I find that adding some sweetener or cotton candy, or bav cream can make other flavors taste better. It can't hurt to try. :)

I guess i've never tried the flavors individually.......they are always mixed with others in a recipe. I like my juice strong though, so I mix a pretty high percentage.

Same here. usually my mixes come out to around 20% flavoring

Thanks =). Still would like to know what other people seem to think about the caramel/butterscotch from TPA and the bittersweet chocolate xtra

I really like many of TPA's flavours but I am at a loss with the caramels, don't taste like caramel at all to me and the brown sugar seems to taste the same (as the caramels).

atleast someone know's what I'm talking about. It kinda urks me because the one had good reviews on their site..the one that tasted good was the caramel from my last order i messed up and got the kind with corn syrup in it and used it for my coffee.
I just finished some batches at 20% with the caramels and still not up to par. mabe in a couple days after steeping but I doubt it.

That's the way it is from all the flavoring companies. Some flavorings you love and most you don't. I've bought 6 caramels from different companies and several toffees and butterscotches and creme brulees. I didn't love any of them and most were alcoholly or bitter tasting. I JUST found a good tasting caramel finally last week! It's FlavorWest's brand and it's called Caramel Corn or Caramel Candy. It's the only good tasting one I've found.

I've found Maple to be the same case. I've bought every brand under the sun and only like Flavour Arts Maple Syrup. I've bought every brand of butterscotch and haven't found a keeper yet because they taste alcoholly or chemically.

DIY is like that for me. I have a few flavorings from different companies that I order. I've bought over 100 flavorings and winnowed that down to 10 or so I regularly use. But they are from 4 different companies:)

Strawberry is a fairly good one. It works as a base note and as a basic fruit. Easy to tell when you go over as it gets "chemically", but still has a strawberry flavor.

Haven't tried that lemon, but I'm not a huge lemon fan.

Been taking a break from citrus flavor lately. (Too much of Max's lime has got me sour on citrus...ok, bad pun)

I find that steeping is the key with the caramel and creamy flavors. Many flavors do not have much taste alone but are great mixed with others. I too mix multiple flavors so I really can't comment on what they might taste like alone. I also find that for me if I mix too strong it makes the florally, chemical taste pop out with many flavors. Especially the fruits.

Neon, I've only used TPA's Lemon in a Tom Collins recipe but it worked well and has no off taste. I went back and got a 15mL bottle for future batches.

Hey Hoosier, sorry about that Lime! Hope you get bitter better soon!

BTW I also substituted Key Lime in one of the Mojito versions but found it gave a somewhat bitter aftertaste.

Good to know that about the lemon. I've got another idea for the lime, but I need to reset my nose for a bit. I started to get the sneezes over that recipe. Been playing with mints during the down-time....

TPA's mints are easier to work with over the oils and mix with each other well, so I've discovered a number of interesting tastes that are probably too novel to vape for very long.
