This charger, that David has stocked mainly to slam electrons into the 26xxx batteries, does charge faster than the PILA. Since I've not had occasion to deplete a 26xxx, I used it to charge the Panasonic 2250mah hybrid CGR/IMR. For comparison, I charged one each from 3.3V on the PILA and on the TR005. It took ~205 minutes (~3.5 hours) on the PILA and ~120 minutes (~2 hours) on the TR005. When the Shockwave ships, I'll do a comparison on the IMR 26500 AW and generic and the generic 26650 IMR, also between the PILA and the 1.5amp TR005. My PILA will charge one 26xxx at a time, in either bay. Lucked out there.

So the PILA WILL actually charge a 26650 and a 26500?

one at a time, mine will...

others have said either one or both bays will not work so YMMV

You have to fiddle just a second or two to get both sides to contact correctly. You know it has done so when it goes from both lights on to turning red...it's charging.

Here's an update with other small(er) IMR's while we wait for the SW. Note that the generic IMR charged at the same rate as the PILA, so I suspect that it was not rated to charge at 1.5A. The TR005 charger will charge batteries to between 4.20-4.25V, which is still in the safe zone, before the light turns green. So if you want, use these guidelines to remove them or check voltage if you don't want them charged past 4.20V.

Charge time comparisons - TR005/PILA
AW IMR 14500 600mah - 35 minutes/65 minutes
AW IMR 18350 700mah - 43 minutes/80 minutes
Generic IMR 18350 800mah - 100 minutes/95 minutes
AW IMR 18490/18500 1100mah - 60 minutes/110 minutes
AW IMR 18650 1600mah - 80 minutes/145 minutes
AW IMR 18650 2000mah - 105 minutes/185 minutes
Panasonic IMR/CGR 18650 2250mAh - 120 minutes/205 minutes
