Hey all...

Thought I'd share this with the group... We've been tracking our atomizers for a couple of months now... we have an atomizers page on our personal wiki but you could use notepad or even paper.

The idea is to know how many working atomizers you have, how well they work, ohms, what flavors they've had etc etc.

We used a fine tip paint marker and numbered our atomizers... we used white but you can use a color that matches your atty so that it isn't noticeable unless you are looking for it. Write it as small as you can. We put the number on each side of the atomizer so that if one rubs off the other is still there... I've come back and touched up the numbers on a couple of them but for the most part the paint stays on.

Here's how our list looks:

* 1 - tobacco flavors - seemed to weaken after water rinse - removed wick and bridge... cool - still not so great as of 5/3/2010

* 2 - tw gold band - usa mix/menthol - removed wick - very good as of as of 5/3/2010 ... switched tobacco and back to menthol now both as of 5/15/2010 back to tobac.. still vaping good 5/25

* 3 - black no band - fruit - very good as of 5/4/2010 - removed bridge and wick 5/15 - still vaping fruit and works great as of 5/25

* 4 - recovered - good as of 5/1/2010 - 2.5 ohms as of 5/25

* 5 - recovered - very good as of 5/1/2010 - 3.2 ohm as of 5/25

* 6 - black no band - Amanda's ry4/fruit - good as of 5/1/2010 - weak as of 5/27 need to measure

* 7 - recovered - ry4 - weak - decent on 5v - removed wick 5/3/2010 - 2.5 ohm as of 5/25

* 8 - silver w/ gold band - Amanda's ry4/usa - very good as of 5/1/2010 - dead burnt up by stuck battery on 5/26 - remove from list :p

* 9 - opened 5/2/2010 - tobacco flavs ... switched to menthol as of 5/10/2010... cloggy from the beginning still cloggy and vaping menthol on 5/25 - weak already?

A huge improvement over "is this one still good? I hope so...". This method is absolutely useful if you rotate your atomizers or open new attys to try new liquids.

Definitely do this... a few notes jotted down about our hardware has made vaping an even more enjoyable experience than it already was.

Best, Chris Brown

you can find out about removing the wick here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/58303-removing-wick.html

see also http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/92299-removing-bridge-wick-510-wow.html

Phi's vids explain it clearly... his other vids are here: YouTube - phee303's Channel

I only drip so it works great for me... I don't think it would work with cart/filler.

Great idea about the fingernail stickers... I tried colored stars (like in elementary school lol) but the color fades and they all become silver stars.

Good idea for keeping track of specific types of attys and what is in them.

Cheap nail polish (dollar stores have all the weird colors) dab of color (you can do dots to replace numbers as in one, two dots, three dots, etc.) work well too and stay on better than a permanent marker and can be removed with acetone (black nail polish is great for blacking out the battery LED for stealth vaping too).

+1 on the nail stickers (though maybe not for the guys). I found some great ones that glow in the dark (tiny kitty skull/cross bones) that match my Hell-No-Kitty custom Chuck battery mod. Awesomeness!

Also the tiny Sticko brand Jelly stars that come in 6 colors per sheet and are made by Stickopotumus (find at Walmart). They withstand soaking in EverClear alcohol even (mylar I believe) and won't lose color like the foil stars do. I also put one on my liquid bottle. This way I know that all green star atomizers are Menthol (which never totally cleans out).

Lol. I tried the stars, too. Unfortunately, my location (rural) makes my broadband connection worse than most peoples dial up, so vids are not an option. I just thought maybe you were talking about cartos as I didn't know attys would work without the parts. What is left if you remove the wick and bridge?

when you remove both all that is left is mesh around the cup, the cup and the coil... works great for dripping

I have the nail polish, too. Bright pink and yellow! lol. I think Walmart may be the only place I haven't checked for stickers. What section are they in?
They are usually on an end isle... near the party decor, craft stuff and office supplies. You have to hunt for them usually.

I've seen 4 and 5 packs of cheapo nail polish at the 99 Cent Only stores (Southwestern states only though) in yellow, baby blue, dark blue, purple, green, etc. Walmart gets in some odd colors as well, but not for 99 cents!
