It says Feed Grade:confused:, so I would assume this is not something I should inhale/purchase, but for 25$ out the door for a gallon of PG, I have to ask if this would be a safe...

If not that's fine, I'll keep looking around where I live... just thought I'de ask the the knowledgeable folks that have experience with this..

Thanks!

I am not sure about "feed grade" but have you tried your local pharmacy? They can order it for you.

Nope, I haven't tried anywhere except online so far, I was letting my mouse do the walking before I picked up the phone...

Only reason I havent really made the effort is there is a Feed store that I am almost sure has it near by, but I haven't made the effort to go there...

My dad goes there for bottles of penicillin and syringes to save on doctor bills:)shock:... he's frugal, and slightly more hardcore than I am...) so I'm sure they have other medical grade stuff including that...

I just thought I'de ask if anyone had seen Feed Grade PG and had any experience with it...

Thanks Lacey

ok... did a little clicking for you here...

I am seeing that the manufacturers of PG oversees note the following levels of PG: Pharmaceutical Grade, Food Grade, Pet Food Grade, Feed Grade.

Maybe it is similar to the idea with beef where you have your USDA Choice Grade A beef and then it goes down to Grade D. (still edible)

Seeing that it falls into the fourth in the line up from the manufacturers perspective, I might not smoke that! :(

It's been a while but as I recall Pharmaceutical Grade is the purest, then Food Grade, which I believe is different from Feed Grade.

However, as was stated: Propylene Glycol can be obtained through your pharmacist. They use it in cough syrups and other things.
That would be your safest bet.

If they look at you funny tell them you're taking a teaspon of it with Valerian Root at night to help you sleep....ROFL

Edit: Sorry....that was redundant as hell. Been studying all afternoon and apparently cannot read anything but maps at the moment. :p

I bought mine at the tractor supply store. It says 100% propylene glycol for ingredients....and the label says USP. If yours says that then I would say yes, it's safe. And not just because it hasn't hurt me but if you look around at some earlier threads, USP grade is the recommended one, even if it's feed grade.

hey first2die, not sure where you are in OK, but i called Stillwater Milling Company (feed store) in Claremore, they have USP grade PG for 22 bucks a gallon.

i don't have the number, but it comes up easy on google :)

Thats where I was talking about going earlier in the thread, but Tractor Supply had a website I could look through :p

I appreciate the heads up!

Thanks!.. I'll be headed there in the next couple of days..

EDIT: I actually live in Perkins, 10 miles south of Stillwater (Just so you know Flitzanu :) )

Walrus, does your PG say USP?

Neil

Yes, Propylene Glycol USP. I've only purchased the gallon bottle. It's been pointed out to me that their smaller bottles don't say it on the label... but here's the resolution that another member had (sent in a PM to me):

That's interesting. I got the smaller bottle...2 actually. It's made by Gateway Products Inc. The bottle says "for more information go to www.gp-equine.com" which I did, and on their web page you can bring up a pdf file that states 100% PG. I also emailed Revival Animal who contacted the manufacturer and confirmed that it is USP grade. Odd that they wouldn't put it on the bottle though.

Hope this helps.

Walrus,

Do you have any clue on the shelf-life, one gallon is a lot? I assume I will need to keep the PG in a cool dry place.

Now if we can get a chemist to figure out the mg of self extracted nicotine.

Neil

Interestingly enough, there is a place for an expiration date on the label, but it's not stamped. I'm not sure.

I keep the bottle on the floor under my desk

A little research shows the shelf life of PG at two years.
