Making my first trip overseas and im not sure what to expect. I want to take my SB and my box mod with me as i will be gone almost 2 weeks. Would it be safe to take charger in my carry on? Is there some sort of way to use charger at hotel with a usb plug instead of the wall socket? Its 220 there instead of 110. Liquids in carry on. I just ordered a bunch of 6ml bottles. Never been overseas before and havent flown since 96 so im not sure what to expect. I would hate to have to revert to analogs while im there.

You will want to check the input voltage of your charging device like PT said. It can usually be found somewhere on the charger itself with the other technical information. It will usually say something to the lines of "Input 120V-240V" If the voltage your country is using is within that range, then all you will need is an adapter to fit that countries sockets.

I shorted out many a devices when I first started travelling for work internationally.

Also, if you are staying in a hotel, most larger chains will have an outlet in the bathroom that says "110V" on it. For the love of god, dont use it! Its for shavers only! Again, I learned many a expensive lessons before I just suckered in and bought a reliable converter and adaptor set!

Good luck, and safe travels!

Hey,

Chargers are fine to carry on as I have been doing this with mobile phone chargers for years. It depends where you are travelling with regards to using your charger however it should be very easy to pick up an adaptor in any good electrical store :). A quick point to note aswell is that airports will not allow you to bring liquids through security so I would recommend putting your E juice in your check in luggage and use prefilled carts for the departure lounge and flight. Hope this was helpful and I hope you have a fantastic holiday :2cool:

Sandrita, we appreciate your input here but this is false information, EU allows liquid in 100cc or smaller bottles in a clear 1 liter bag for carry-on.

You're correct. TSA also allows bottles up to 100 ml. TSA | Transportation Security Administration | 3-1-1 on Air Travel
You're allowed a single quart-size (roughly a liter) bag to carry your liquids.

Also, the advice I got from several TSA and UK / Irish security screeners is to put your e-cigs and chargers in a separate plastic zip-lock bag and set it in the bin in plain sight so they don't have to dig around in your carryon to find out what the stuff is. They might still ask you what the stuff is for, but I've never had a hassle from anyone in the security area.

See the various other threads on flying with e-cigs for more on this.

This is a great video about traveling with ecigs-

Just put the liquids in a quart size zipper bag, and make sure they're 3 oz or less.

I don't know what sort of batteries you're trying to charge, but I bought an EU specific charger for my 18650's on eBay along with a nice set of batteries pretty inexpensively. I only really travel overseas once a year, but it was a really good deal on the batteries that I'll use year-round.

Good to see someone else that actually travels that comments on this forum!

I just got back from a trip to Germany, connecting through the UK. I had three 30 ML bottles in my baggie, along with my travel contact solution and two small 3 ML dropper bottles full of e-liquid. Not a single security agent in any country batted an eye at them.

Regarding all other equipment, I took my Pure Smoker Prodigy V3 and Icon, four 14500 batteries, six RCR123a LiFePO4 batteries, chargers for each type of battery, about 10 cartomizers, and 5 atomizers. All of this was in my carry on.

The only time an agent asked about any of my vaping gear was the airport in Munich on the way home. I had put my Icon (fully assembled with battery) in the front pocket of my backpack. He asked if he could look in my backpack when it came through the scanner. Of course, I said sure. He pulled out my Icon and looked puzzed. I said it was an electronic cigarette. He said "how does it work?". I showed him the button and took the battery out to show him. He said OK and put it back in my backpack. Oh, and he also fondled the 8 tins of Swedish Snus I had in there as well. But he didn't comment on it.

So no one in the Atlanta airport or Heathrow (London) even batted an eye when I was going and coming back.

I've taken my PV with me to China, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. I reckon I wouldn't have had any issues with Brazil (they didn't even look at my luggage) , but wasn't sure when I went, so I didn't bring it with me.

I'm a little wary when I travel though. I only bring a PV which I'm willing to part with, just in case it gets taken off me. Semi related example: in China, you're not allowed to bring lighters on your carry-on luggage. They wanted to confiscate my 30 year old Zippo. I was not impressed.

I also travel quite frequently internationally out of Australia. I take both my PV's. The Provari goes in my checked through baggage, with batteries, charger and the like. Through security and on the plan I take my eGo with some spare batteries, a couple of 10 ml juice bottles, a spare atty, tanks etc. Not as nice a vape but am prepared to loose it if it came down to it. I have had no issues at all in going through security with no questions either.

The key as always is to just be sensible and you should be fine. To be safe I wouldnt take anything that I am not prepared to have confiscated, just in case. To replace and eGo is cheap, to replace a nice mod would hurt the pocket way too much :)
