Hi, all. I've been vaping for over 5 years and with Halo almost the entire time. I was a mod for Modern Vapor and would buy Halo through them until I started exclusively buying my juice directly from Halo. The first time my wife and I tried Tribeca as a sample, we fell in love. I even asked Jay Blazio to sell me more before it was being sold and he was nice enough to do it for me. I send him an email once in a while and have always received very nice replies, though sometimes from Jason or John instead. Before I bother any of them though, I thought I'd ask the two questions below.

First, I've never had a want to build my own coils, but with hardware like the Atlantis coming out recently, I decided to give sub ohm a try and picked one up with an iStick 30 a couple of weeks ago. I knew I should lower my nic but had 300ml of only 18mg Tribeca in the house, so I picked up some 6mg blood orange juice from a local store and vaped it at 30w. It was really good, and I was surprised and finally understood how such high wattage could work with a coil built like that. With Tribeca, I never ran above 8w with cartos but I was excited to vape it like this so I decided to order some 0 nic Tribeca on a coil like that. So.....

1. I received two bottles of 0 nic Tribeca today. They were perfectly clear, no color whatsoever. They also didn't smell like Tribeca. Does anyone know if this is what 0 nic Tribeca is suppose to be like?

2. I took those those two bottle and mixed them with one bottle of 18mg Tribeca, looking to roughly get 6mg Tribeca. The mixture looked a little more like Tribeca but still didn't really smell like it. Had it tasted right at least, I wouldn't be writing this. I've tried vaping the mixture at many wattages and though it never tastes burnt, it just doesn't taste like Tribeca at all. For what it's worth, 23w seems to be the best even though it tastes nothing like Tribeca. Has anyone vaped Tribeca on a sub ohm device at high wattages and what were your thoughts?

So those are my two questions. I have a hard time believing that both of those bottles were wrong, yet it just feels like I got two bottles of 0 nic base - instead of Tribeca.

you should have tried them the old fashioned way to verify their flavor before mixing them

I can't imagine vaping Halo on modern hardware. The stuff is 80% PG. It's meant for old school attys and cartos.

Chalk it up as a lesson learned and start sampling juice meant for modern hardware til you find something you like as much. I can recommend Space Jam Eclipse and Charlie Noble Tripoli as high VG juices that strike me as Halo-esque. Also Golden Road by Steam Juice if a caramel/butterscotch overdose sounds good to you. Personally I found that modern hardware totally changed how I vape and I almost solely vape custards now. Vape what you like.

and yes, the amount of power you throw at a juice can make a huge difference in the flavor. Many juices seem to have a sweet spot where they really come alive.

Yeah I expected less clouds because of so much PG, but I'm not a cloud chaser and I like my throat hit, so I wasn't concerned. I just didn't expect the taste to not be there. I'll test the mixture in kanger aerotank mini soon, but I'm still not so sure that was 0 nic Tribeca, just seems odd.

Thanks for the options and if you have the Vapenstein review site, I have you bookmarked and have read a lot of stuff there in the past. I surprising love that blood orange mixture I tried, and I'll order more plus another brand's blood orange mixture too. I feel funny mentioning other company names in the Halo forum, so I'll leave that generic. Modern hardware may be changing me to. The fruit stuff is really getting me even though there wasn't a ton of TH.

What I'd love to see from Halo is some sub ohm juice and larger bottle sizes at a discount - buying 30 ml at a time is rough.

I had a similar experience going directly from 18mg in a Triton to 6mg in a dripper with a mechanical mod. Tribecca had been my favorite juice and I found that I could just barely stand it. In a Nautilus/Provari @3.7 volts it tasted more like it's old self but with the lower nic it still seemed to be missing some of the nutty carmel top notes.

Hmmm, well glad to hear others have mentioned that about 0mg Tribeca. As for steeping it, In addition to Halo steeping their stuff before they sell it, the 0 nic stuff I just got is actually a month older than the 18mg stuff I have, so I don't think that's the issue.

Here's what seems to be working best... I changed the air intake of the Atlantis to the smallest hole, filled it with 18mg, and am inhaling mouth to lung instead of direct lung with a shorter burn time. It's acceptable that way. I'd love some new concoction called "TribecaSub" if you know what I mean.

I vape 12mg Tribeca every day of the year and have for a couple years. Probably been through a gallon of the stuff and I love it. I have several bottles of 6mg and just can't get into it. I understand the lack of throat hit with lower nic versions but to me it just doesn't have as much actual flavor either. Interestingly, just to test my suspicion, I ordered a small bottle of zero nic Tribeca with my last regular order. I couldn't vape the stuff. It has no smell that would even remind me of Tribeca and even less flavor. What flavor was there tasted like plastic. Really terrible. I say this with all due respect to Halo since 12mg Tribeca is still my ADV, and I love it, but wow, what a difference in 6mg and especially zero. Another vendor I buy from, HHV, states that they ad more flavoring to the mix as nic levels lower to keep the flavor profile the same. Something tells me Halo isn't doing this?
