Hello!

Just got my Trident clone and so far so good. I am waiting on Kanthal wire in the mail so in the meantime I stole a premade coil from a spare Kanger atomizer I have and put that coil in. Works just fine! Reading 2omhs. However, I used a different one originally that broke when I was screwing in the post caps...broke as in the 2 legs snapped from being too snug in the post slots.

So my question is are you only supposed to LIGHTLY screw on these post caps in general, or are my post caps possibly a bit jagged and are cutting the wire?

For the second coil that is working now I made sure not to tighten them very much, and really they aren't loose. I've seen videos where the caps go on nice and snug and just want to make sure it isn't something I'm doing wrong. I will be able to test more when my spool of Kanthal arrives.

Thanks!

the gauge of the kanthal in the kanger heads is 34 i believe.... in any case its microscopic. now while some people like 34 32 g its very thin and easy to break. hence you need 28 or larger to snug those caps up nice and tight. but be careful as on many of the Trident clones those posts strip out very easily. i have had all the clones of that atty as well as the real one ... the real trident v2 is my all day dripper. you cant beat real steel. anyhow my preferred method for tightening the connections on the clones to prevent stripping is to hand screw the connections and then just barely torque it with the screwdriver. also coming back after a few drips to check the torque as the softer aluminum or ss of the clones tends to lead to screws backing out.
