tried an analog today...

nice to see everyone's results on trying a smoke after quitting.

I would rather smoke Cat Litter than have another cigarette :tumble:

Yeah, the thing I find funny was back when I was still smoking, I didn't believe ex-smokers turned vapers that said they were fine without a cigarette. Now, I understand the feeling and agree wholeheartedly. Who needs their mouth to taste like burnt ash?

I tried two puffs off of an analog on different days in roughly the first month after i quit. I wanted to see how it tasted. I could tell my sense of taste and smell were improving. It was out of curiosity rather than a craving.

Both times it was nasty and i pretty much exhaled it while it was still in my mouth. I don't care if its just my imagination or not. Im VERY grateful they now taste and smell terrible to me. Now i know how some non smokers feel around a smoker too.

Thats enough to make me never go back and say a prayer of thanks every night.

I still haven't earned my "X days without a cigarette" banner. I went one day without one, but the next day I had some car trouble, and pulled my emergency pack out of the glove compartment while I waited for the tow truck. I'll wait until I've gone a week.

I've actually had one today. I'm still addicted to some of the non-nicotine chemicals, and I think I'm a little bored with my limited selection of flavors.

Still, I'm following through with my plan to sell my last three full cartons. That will leave me with six packs that I'll have a hard time parting with. I gave one pack away for free last night when I sold a carton, so there is that.

I've been off the tar sticks for over a month now and have never had the urge to pick one up and try it again. They tasted like crap when I was enjoying smoking and I'm sure they don't taste any better now!!! Glad though that it disgusted you to the point you'll never want to try it again!!!

I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in here. I'm on Day 27 now and have not entirely quit my beloved cigs. The hardest time for me is after a meal. Lat night, after The One Who Must Be Listened To and I finished dinner, we headed for the front porch for an after dinner smoke. It tasted just fine, but I became dizzy and quesy and immediately developed heartburn...bad. Said heartburn woke me up again at 3:30 this morning. So today, I haven't had one burn stick and don't plan on it. I hope I'm strong enough and with the memory of last night still fresh in my old noggin, I think I am. Vape on, mi amigos!!

I'm on day 24 and the thought of having just a few puffs has entered my head about once every hour or so. I just can't see paying 8 bucks for a pack of cigarettes just to see if they taste nasty! Every day I think of bumming one off of a friend and then I think I will just wait one more day and see if I still want one tomorrow!!!!! I don't want to be a statistic of how curiosity killed the cat!!!!! My brain is still telling me I want just one more puff. Once again I will wait till tomorrow! So maybe soon I will have a banner at the bottom that says I have been smoke free..... I have saved $145 on analogs and spent to date $295 on more batteries, more juice, more, more, MORE!!!!! Right now I will just enjoy my Mocha Mint and Sweet Vanilla Cupcake!

I'd never say never. I've quit smoking and other things several times in my life and it really is best to just worry about today or the moment. The last time I quit I had quit for about a year then one night, my wedding night actually, I bummed a smoke off of someone and had the same reaction as you, I thought it was nasty and couldn't believe I did it for so long. Fastforward another year maybe and I kept getting cravings and I figured I'd smoke one to get it out of my system and I expected to have that same reaction as last time, needless to say it didn't happen that way and I smoked for another year after that up until a month ago. Addiction to anything is no joke and really plays games with my brain, and I'd assume others as well, and it's patient, it can plant a seed then step back and wait and when your guard is down it hits you before you know it.
Anyway that was long. Good luck and I'm glad it worked out this time.

An update from me... A neighbor of mine was having a nic fit, and asked a woman walking by if he could buy a cigarette from her. She rudely turned him down. I know it wasn't really helping, but I told him that if he waited I'd run into my apartment and get him one. I brought him a whole pack, which turned out to be his brand. So that's one less pack in the house to worry about.

I did take the opportunity to tell him about the E-cig though. He's tried Blu and hated it, and I wanted to let him know that there are better options.

I didn't have my menthol juice on me or I would have let him take a hit.

you should have punched him in the nose ... really now, who thinks about smoking while dealing with a gushing nose bleed?

of course I'm kidding ... violence is never the answer for anything :2cool:

Nah. I've been there fairly recently. When saving to go to my aunt's cancer benefit last spring, I had to go without smokes for about two weeks. It was hell, and I bummed one whenever I had the chance. It made me feel like a loser, but the people who were cool to me were really cool. One guy gave me half a pack. I figured I should pay it forward.

I'm not going to turn into one of those judgmental ex-smokers. I always hated them. It would look especially bad because to the uneducated, vaping is the same as smoking. In fact, that illusion is the reason I started vaping, and it's something I can't get past on a deep level despite knowing otherwise. My body thinks it's smoking, it looks like I'm smoking, and it feels like I'm smoking. That's why I like it.
