Hey, I would appreciate some input. I first got into vaping about a year ago. I found it to be much more of a hassle than I expected. I started with the basic starter kit with the puny E-go batteries and the CE4, maybe CE5. The top wick type. Then went through several setups. T3S, EVOD, Protank, PT2, PT3, i30B (which was actually decent). I just got tired of charging multiple batteries, the leaking, the gurgling, etc. So I gave up. I reverted back.

Which brings me here looking for advice. I am about to start orthodontia within the next 6 weeks. I have to stop smoking to succeed with that. Just looking around, it seems vaping has progressed a lot since I lurked here. I really just want the most hassle-free, leak-free, gurgle-free, etc. experience. When I tried vaping before, I was always buying the next best thing, the latest product on the market, except battery mods. That didn't work out. I just want something that works with the least hassle.

I'm thinking about buying the eLeaf 50W with a Kanger Subtank. Maybe a couple of them to easily change up flavors. I need to find a setup that is easy and foolproof.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

I too have the thoughts from time to time it's just a hassle. I drip with mods and that can be a real hassle sometime. I also have a Itaste leo it's a battery at 3.7 volts I think. I use a kanger mini tank 2 with 1.8 ohm coils. I've never had a problem with gurgling. I've both burnt the coils off and replaced them. I use 12% nicotine with a 50/50 juice. I've got a bottle with a needle type dropper so I don't spill juice all over the place. After I fill the tank I always make a little thing out of toilet paper and run it through the middle of the tank to remove any overfill that might have gotten in there.

now, If I had ever felt the need for more nicotine I'm sure I would have gone up in nicotine. Also, this tank isn't very big, so it doesn't hold alot of juice, but I'm sure a pro tank 2 would have worked if that was a problem. This set up fits all my nicotine needs when I'm driving or somewhere I can't drip.

When I first started vaping there was times when my setup gurgled, but now that I look back to it, It was something I did with inexperience. I know one time I think I used max VG and maybe that caused problems. I used some plastic tanks when I first started and I remember it cracked. I just haven't had any problems in a long time.

vaping isn't for everyone, but If you really want to quit smoking I'm sure others have options for you as well, but my setup works great for me. :)

Welcome to ECF, its currently a great time to be vaping as the market is changing everyday with new products but that also makes it very confusing when picking out what will work for you. Ive been vaping around 8 months and have tried several set-ups while buying some just cause I wanted them. I just got a istick 50w as well as a subtank mini this week and I have to say that is a great set-up and pretty much worry free.

What I like about the subtank mini is you can use the OCC coil heads or the RBA and build your own coil, it comes with everything needed if you decide you want to build but you dont have to and the OCC coil heads work great too(which are also rebuildable). The istick is fairly compact and has a long battery life and plenty of power for the subtank.

I said all this because I think alot of us want big setups and blow clouds of vaper, but I've even bought BLU disposables in the past just so I wouldn't smoke analogs. Some people do that too. I'm sure alot of people do because they are still in business. If it ever comes down to it I'm sure I'll try on of those kits before going back to smoking. I have smoked it's 10 now analogs so far this year. They all have been at work and they taste terrible. I don't even know why I did it. I just wanted a cig is all when it comes down to it. What I do know is...analogs stink and people that smoke them know how much they smell, but when I quit and go over to a friends house and get home later, the smell in my clothes is down right atrocious LOL :) good luck

eGos and top coil clearos are about as easy as it gets. More power and subohming isn't going to be any easier or less work...

There is that. Even moving beyond that class of gear - nothing is going to be as easy as smoking. The biggest factor in making this work and dealing with the gear is: Are you motivated to quit or not? If you aren't, dealing with the gear will always be a fallback reason to return to smoking instead.

It's going to take effort. You have already tried and rejected thew easy stuff.

I suggest you just quit trying to quit. Start vaping if you want... That is what I did. Starting 8 months back, I vaped and smoked, at the same time. Until one day a few months later, I noticed, it had been 2 weeks since I had, had an anolog.... Been 3 months now. Pretty good for not trying to quit. in the same time I have cut the nicotine in the Vape Juice by 50%. I think I'll go on not quitting smoking.

35 years of 1-2 packs a day to 3-7ml a day through a Kayfun. Without really trying.

If you want to "get a couple of Subtanks," I would suggest getting the Nano. They're smaller, but take the same coils as the rest of them, and they cost less. I'm all about vaping on the cheap, although, after a "minor" mishap, I had to buy a new mod today...hopefully that will be the last one until my 'reward' mod. lol

hello and welcome to ecf :)
i too went through quite a bit of leaky tanks when starting out and battery issues and honestly if it weren't for the people on this forum i doubt i'd be vaping now.....

for the price and ease of use the isticks are just plain awesome for any new/veteran vaper......
tanks, well there are a lot out there and more coming....this past year has just been an awesome leap in vaping and more great things to come
i've heard lots of good things about the subtank, I even got to try one the other day at work, some guy saw me outside vaping on my istick and we swapped drip tips
at the moment though i have finally found a tank that hasn't leaked and flavor is spot on.....and guess what....its not really anything new....a protank mini with airflow control valve and the new vertical coils less leaky, less gurgling, less dry hits, less burnt wicks.....it's almost like a cartotank but it's a bcc :) and the flavor is almost on par with my eternity drippers but in tank form :D
best of luck that you find something that works for you

Jeeba, lots of folks try, revert and try again. Vaping is a good solution to quitting, but that doesn't mean it's easy peasy! For me, what mattered most was finding a juice that I really liked, at a nic level sufficient to satisfy cravings. I also found that my setup did matter; insufficient power didn't provide the flavor I wanted, and a tiny tank was just annoying. On the battery front, there are tons of good options - the eleaf and iStick among them. If you think you will use a low resistance coil (like the .5 OCC in the Subtank), by all means, get a 50 watt battery. I use a ProVari P3 and a Hana Modz S4, both of which I love. The Subtank mini is a great option, IMHO. It holds enough juice (for me), doesn't leak, and I have a choice of good OCCs or rebuilding. You might want to check out the Subtank thread for more opinions. Best of luck!

to ecf Jeeba. Nice to meet you and so glad you are here. I am so sorry that vaping did not work for you the first time but I honestly feel like that was a year ago and now is a new chance for you to try again. There are so many improvements in vaping that I have seen just in the last year. I have gone through several upgrades and tried different pv's. I have been using a reo for the last 10 months and it is the most convenient and easiest mod I have used. Of course it is still not as easy as buying a pack of cigarettes but vaping is enjoyable for me.

I so hope that you will get better equipment and give vaping another try. I read so many stories here were people have done exactly like you and gone back to smoking but the second or third time worked. Don't give up if it is really something you want to do. ecf is the most reliable place to get information and recommendations but it is also a huge support group so who knows. . . you are here now and this time could just be the "right" time. Please let us know how you are doing and if there are any questions or concerns that we could help you with. Always someone here that cares. Good luck to you and I look forward to reading how well you are enjoying vaping. Good thoughts for you.

Have you tried any of the cigalikes?

and if you are considering a subtank, then also consider throwing in a simple cheap rda

Hey, thank you all for the friendly welcome and encouragement. Vape stores here are mostly closed on Sunday's, so I wasn't able to buy anything today. I do think I will go with an iStick 50W. I think that will give me the most options going forward. And I think a subtank mini or nano.

I wasn't as committed as I needed to be the first time I tried vaping. I do realize now that vaping will never be as easy or foolproof as buying yet another pack of cigs. Regular cigarettes are going to stain my Invisalign badly, so I am very committed this time.

Again, thank you for the help.

It's a hassle, but so is smoking. Once you get a routine down it's not nearly as big of a deal. I had the same issues, I started about 4 years ago and then again last year and now here I am about 6 weeks into it. Each time the equipment got better and I had more options to choose from. I had some extra encouragement from work where they banned smoking Jan 1, but only on or in company property so I was still OK to smoke the rest of the day. The biggest thing was finding the right juice. That pretty much made all the difference. I could work around all the other stuff and continue to smoke, I made the 1st couple of weeks weeks just fine before I decided what kind of rig I wanted to vape with. The next couple of weeks were even easier because I could vape between cigs so I was never more than 4 hrs from my next one. Once I got the right juice I smoked 3 cigs over 3 days and and didn't realize I had stopped until the end of the first day. No deadline, no pressure and I still have a pack of smokes in my truck if I want one.

I couldn't have done that on my first attempt, the juice didn't exist. Maybe I could have done it on my second try, but I don't remember seeing a store that sold anything but there own juice, and I was still using an ego with what was probably the original Kanger tank so my rig just ran out of battery now instead of running out of juice 1st. Maybe it would have been different with the right juice in the tank, but it was still pretty frustrating.

ECF is a big resource as well, there are lots of things out there and I have yet to find a B&M that has more than about 10% of what is available from the bigger online operations. Being able to find out what's out there and what works certainly improves your chances of getting something that will work for you.

Vaping willl never be as *easy* as smoking, you already know that, despite how technology has advanced.

You might also consider a REO if you don't have your heart set on 50W stuff. It's about as easy as it gets. Guess that is why they are popular.
