Triton tank cleaning? Coil life?

Hi All,

How frequently are you supposed to rinse and clean your triton tanks? I have just been refilling when low and not sure if I should rinse and clean at some point?

Also, how long should a coil last before you have to replace it? Does the ohms make a difference in the life of the coils?

Thanks all!

It all depends.

They say the lighter colored juices go longer, but who knows?

I have 6 tanks in a rotation, 2 get cleaned at a time. (lol, but I've been caught with all 6 empty needing cleaning.)

My Malibu goes 4 or 5 tankfuls, But VooDoo seems to go only twice.

I know it's time when I get "cold vapes", very little vapor from a good battery. But usually I need to rinse. clean, redo the heads due to gurgling and leaking down the center tube, usually after a 2nd or 3rd refill, so a tank rinse is no big deal. I use distilled water for rinsing and soaking. (It fairly inexpensive, but I have a distiller.)

It's not so much a tank cleaning, but soaking the gunk off the coil that should be done. Try every 3rd tank.

VooDoo is different. I see color difference between fresh added fluid and the "dregs".

YMMV

My experience: I clean my coils every 3 refills or so. I have never smoked a coil in 4 months, but I have two that need new wicks. My coils never have any buildup on them so I feel that no dry burn is needed. Hot water rinse, then 10 minutes in a small ultrasonic cleaner {for whatever it's worth} is my routine. All of my flavors always get darker as the tank level gets lower and as the wick gets "dirtier."

It's really no hassle at all to maintain the coils & wicks, ESPECIALLY compared to my old habit which was tobacco, tubes and a Top-O-Matic cig machine. ;)

Are the UC's like the jewelry cleaners?

Thanks all, great info! How do you do a dry burn? Also, what's a PGA??? (Sorry for the newbie questions)

I'll answer the latter. PGA is Pure Grain Alcohol. Had you floated your mouse over the abbreviation, it'll tell you, as it works for OP, BT, and a few others.

If PGA isn't available, use Vodka.

To do a dry burn:
1) take the coil assembly apart
2) load the coil base on to an empty tank (don't put the tip on)
3) activate it in 2 to 3 second pulses, and watch the gunk burn away (you can blow on it too).

Once it's clear, you'll want to get rid of any burnt residue (unless you're into burnt flavors), so you can either wash the coil again, or give it a quick stir in Pure Grain Alcohol (which dries a lot faster).

cleaning the coils is confusing to me. I thought taking out the wick ruined the coil because there's internal attachments to he coil that once broken don't work right.

If you don pull the wick out, whats the point is rinsing the coil out?

I have about two or three tanks going at a time. I refill for a few weeks then I take out the coil, rinse the tank and tip, let it dry, and put a new coil in.
