I have had my Triton VV for a couple of months now. When I first ordered it, I noticed Halo recommended the 3.0-3.2 Ohms coils. Unfortunately, they were out of stock so I kept using the stock coils (2.2-2.4) and it worked fine. Weeks later, they were still OOS, so I ordered the 2.6-2.8s. They worked great.

I finally got a hold of the 3.0-3.2s, and TBH, I'm extremely disappointed. All they seem to do is require me to crank my VV to just about max, while giving me muted flavor and a much smaller cloud. Granted, it could be that the first one I tried is faulty, but I don't think so...it doesn't appear to have anything wrong with it.

I'm curious about other people's experience with these coils, because IMO, you should stay away from them and just use the 2.6-2.8s (or even the stock 2.2-2.4s).

Those are higher resistance coils. They take more power to heat up and burn the liquid. They recommend them so people don't crank up a low resistance and burn it up. You don't have to use them, maybe get a slightly higher one then your originals so you can have my play with it. 3.3v with a 3.0-3.2 coil would taste like air. But 4.8v with a 2.0 coil would taste burnt at maybe 4.0v or less.

I agree with BigBen. I usually do.

Standard coils for my VV. Even Belgian is easily controlled. I can go from air, through the optimum, to burnt.

OK, Belgian is within range, but just slight adjustment changes everything. Same with VooDoo.

I'll guess the thicker darker sweeter flavors benefit most from the VarVolt. The other juices seem much more tolerant.

Same here, I like my belgian and coffees at around 3.8 myself (2.2 ohm standard coils- in fact I've started rebuilding my coils for other things (dripper, sucktanks) at 2.2 for this reason.)

I do like my tobaccos higher though.Between 3.8-4.3 seems the sweet spot on those... or about 9 watts if I dust off the old Vamo. Poor thing, it gets about as much love as our Roomba does now that we have a few dysons in the house!

my gurl dog; Daisy, is afraid of her own shadow. she hides underneath my sofa when i watch an action movie too loud. The Roomba is like a giant anime-tentacle monster to her i figure.

The boy dog; Jazz, is fearless...probably to the point of stupidity. During 4th of July he'll try to chase down exploding fireworks on the ground, burn his mouth, then continue trying to chase them down. So the Roomba is barely a nuisance to him.

But Daisy is the alpha of the two and keeps Jazz from going off half-cocked or running away altogether.
