Man this is horrible news, that has literally been on my mind all day today and i actually logged into the forums to try and put my mind at ease. I own a triton VV and a regular 650 mah triton. Did it seem like a blast or an explosion that could hurt someone potentially? Dang and i was thinking that maybe that kind of stuff was just rare

I was not present for the "event" --just saw the aftermath
It doesn't look "bad" and my gf is off on vacation with one of my 650's but it did burn her slightly before she set it down and it popped apart -- it was loud enough to draw attention from other areas of the house (i.e. "what the hell was that?) But then again I have had a capacitor blow about 24" from my face and that sucked thoroughly (ac run capacitor)-- I ohmed out the tank that was on it and it was not shorted but changed the coil anyway and tried it on one of "my" batts and it worked fine

Thanks for the extra info, this definitely does not stop me from using it but it gives me some warning signs such as "does not produce vapor" and "getting hot" just in case. Also its good to know that it just kind of "popped apart" because that must mean its pretty well designed in case that happens.

Jefsview-- she was primed on battery safety by myself (do not fart around with this it CAN be dangerous) if it does not work call me immediately -- know it wasn't overcharged as no one in this household other than I is capable of EVER putting anything on a charger (have removed all cordless phones and replaced with wired units)

How old are those batteries, Halo has a 60 day warranty....any feedback from them?

First, I'm sorry to hear about this and send my best wishes to your GF and you. I've been thinking about this thread for the last two days. I have the exact same bat I think. I call it my Jerry Garcia and it's slick and multicolored. Don't worry, back in those days I never inhaled. LOL That was freak out number 1. Yesterday I got a brand new very high quality charger and some high quality 18650 and 18350 bats for my other mod. This was freak out number 2 and I had my fire extinguisher ready to go. Fortunately everything worked out but trust me when I say this, I watched that puppy constantly until I reached a level of confidence.

About two weeks ago I accidently plugged my 650 into the G6 USB charger. SAME branding as the Triton special USB charger. Grrrrr :evil:r Even though I had them labeled it was late at night and I had brain freeze. YUK! Caught it after about one hour. Battery seemed to work OK in a short test. The next day it would not produce vapor and the draw was so hard. No questions asked, threw that puppy away.

Good luck to you and your GF. :)

I have four USB chargers. Two of them are G6s and two of them are Triton. I keep them in different rooms. One of the G6 chargers has the G6 logo, but the other three all just have the Halo logo. I charge my G6s on my computer and my Tritons in the kitchen so the chargers don't go anywhere near each other.

Really wish Halo would have made sure the chargers where labeled with the device they're for.

well I am fortunate in that I only have triton chargers and greensmoke ones-- so they cannot be accidentally mixed up

Jet Knight -- they were ordered on 6/15 -so less than a month in use -- and I was contacted by customer service today via e-mail by a very nice guy named Bill -- will keep everyone in the loop as I get more info but honestly if that's as bad a failure they can have they are still safer than toothpicks
