I went to my Dr. today. He's not sure what caused my symptoms and they could be from my e-cig. He said its either bronchitis or asthma. I'm not sure what to do now, I really want the e-cig to work for me. First I get cns depression from pg, then I have lung problems from vg. I've read about peg but that doesn't sound good, some thing about cell mutation. I just feel bad now, I was really looking foreword to not smoking.

1st off pustulent phlegm (ie green, yellow) are signs of an infection and not a reaction. Increased production of sputum and coughing it up is due most likely due to a few things. You are going to have increased mucus production with vapor and you are going to be bringing it up more bec of the cilia that are growing back and reactivating (smoking destroys them).

Also the mouth is a breeding ground for bacteria but our saliva destroys alot before they are able to mature to cause any harm but they can be transfered to a drip tip or cart, where they will multiply and grow. I have taken to washing my drip tip every night before bed and wont use the same cart for more then 3 days w/o either cleaning it in pga or rubbing alcohol.

You said your mucus was bright green. Any time I have come across this in 17 years as a Paramedic, it has been a long rooted infection that has gone untreated. You may have had a sinus infection that went unnoticed or an upper respiratory infection or even pneumonia.

Germs are unable to survive in any type of glycerin or so I have read. It draws the water from the bacteria thereby killing it.

Just my 2 cents and my experiences, a doctors advice would trump all of that.

Yeah, sounds like an infection to me and once you're feeling better, I'd give ecigs another try. If the same thing happens again, then I'd suspect your body just doesn't tolerate PG or VG well and ecigs aren't for you. As one person said, you may want to try snus if ecigs don't work for you. Best wishes for quitting smoking and good health!
