I bought a carto tank yesterday, on my second carto and all i taste is burnt filler. followed all the directions on priming, found both here and from you tube videos, i reused the liquid from the first burnt carto, could i have burnt the fluid? I think the whole tank idea is really cool for being on the go, but this, so far, is not enjoyable! Any suggestions? Thank you in advance........

What ohms cartos did you get? For a single coil somwhere around a 2.5 ohm would be best. If you got a dual coil, somewhere around 1.5 ohm would be best for an eGo. You say you did prime the carto first...did you let it sit for about 10 mins before you started using it so it would get good and soaked? Are you getting little air bubbles when you vape? You should be getting little bubbles coming out of the hole in the carto...if not, you may have a pressure issue...don't know what type of tank you got, but you need to get some air in the tank if you have a pressure issue..Hope this helps you. I'm sure someone else will come on here for more suggestions.

Vaping Queen, thanks for your reply. Started with 1.5 ohm single hole, second is 1.25 ohm 3 hole, similar problem with both. Liquid seems to be going into carto as tank fluid level gets lower, just tastes terrible, thats why I was curious if i could have burnt liquid with first carto. I bought it from MadVapes, when I returned the first carto, they were great about replacing it with the second. I let the second "soak" for a good 30 mins. before vapeing. I have'nt tried to change the liquid out yet, for fear I would just be wasting liquid.

I have only been vaping for two months so I am still new to this but the same thing happened to me. I swapped it out for a new one and it worked fine. I assumed it was just a bad carto. What kind of juice are you vaping? I have gotten cheap juices before that just tasted burnt no matter what I used them in. Hope this helps.

I've been hearing some bad things about the Smoktech cartos recently. Is that what you have? If so, you might want to try Boge cartos. That's all I've been using since I started. I've been hearing that Smoktech changed the filler in their's, and that some people have been getting a not so good flavor. If you have a regular size tank (something that fits with a single coil carto) all you need on the Boge cartos is one hole. If you have a bigger size tank (something that fits a dual coil carto) I've heard that the XL Mega Boge's (single coil) with again just one hole are working better than the dual coil cartos with multiple holes.

What PV are you using and what's the PG/ VG ratio? Re: Smoktech I just bought a 5 pack and they were fine cuz I also heard there were problems.

Finally got my tank to somewhat work, when it does it's GREAT! Seems that each time I let it sit for a bit, I have to give it a couple of "prime hits" and even then only get air bubbles from one of the three holes, what gives? I tried cleaning out the other two holes with a pin but, nothing. Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem when I started using tanks. I invested $8 in a self-tapping saddle valve (ask someone who works there) from Home Depot and now I can punch bigger holes in the cartos myself. I haven't had the problem since. Hope this helps...

Right now I'm using Smoktech XL 1.5ohm dual coils, but, thanks to sailorman, I just bought some Resurrectors (Smoktech XL 1.7ohm single coil) because apparently they are truly low resistance, and will provide a better vape on my kGo. I prefer the XL size because it seems to allow more room for error when punching cartos myself, as far as the height of the holes goes. It also seems easier to get them into the tank and to refill the tank once they're in there.

When you prime your carto, how much liquid to you add before sticking it in the tank? I am generally using about 30 drops of liquid. I burned a few by using only a few drops, thinking that the tank will finish priming it for me. Not so! Add liquid to saturate, then stick it in the tank. I'm using SmokeTek cartos without issues now that I learned to prime properly. :)

using Smok Tech 1.7 XL SC Cartos on a tank. Cartos self punched 2.5 mm. Vaping 60/ 40 PG/ VG. First fill of carto is very important. Also realize when juice in tank goes down negative pressure in tank will happen thus hampering the flow of juice. When my tank gets to about 1/5 I'll notice either dry hits or flooding. I then open and refill tank.

What i usually do with a new carto.. i drop about 20-30 drops of e liquid doesnt matter is a 50/50 or 80/20.. let it sit for 5 minutes and look at it back after that, if it still dry i drop another 10 or so.. then sit it on my PV.. i usually vape at 4.5-4.8 in a 2.0ohm carto.. so i set my PV to 4.2 just fired it up without vaping it.. i fired about 2 second then i start to vape a bit without firing.. and that result i will know if a burning taste or not... if a burn taste i feel usually i suck it up without firing and able to see the air bubble from the hole then i repeat the same process and if it is OK.. i start vaping normally. NOTE : sometimes carto DOA or dead in a short period of time.. i have tried a few like 1.5,1.7,2.0,2.5 and highest is 3.0ohm cartos. it seems like for smoketech i like the 2.0's and boge i like the single coil 3.0ohms.. happy vaping

Tanks are great and will work perfectly fine if you do your part. The saddle valve is a must have though, unless you use a dremmel with a cutting wheel. When filling your carto use either the condom method or a syringe, don't be afraid to let your filled carto sit for 30 min. or better, its all about the carto being saturated and staying that way. Also make sure that your tank is supplying juice to the carto, just draw on your tank in the mirror and make sure you are seeing air bubbles from your holes.

Good luck.
