Troubleshooting E-Cig for newbie

Status
Not open for further replies.

Just ordered and received my first E-cig about a week ago... chose the Premium brand E-Cig PR110 starter Kit with 1 battery
. Followed directions included about charging it up and how to start out, and it worked great for the first week... went through two cartridges and recharged the battery a few times, each time went as expected, no problem.

However, today for some reason, took a "drag" and the cigarette tip light did not go out afterwards like it normally does, and further draws on the ecig produced no vapor or taste whatsoever, nor that slight "hissing" sound that normally is produced during a draw on the cig. I tried putting the battery back on the charger, but the charger light stays green, saying the battery is fully charged. Any tips or ideas how to resolve this issue?

Welcome , but sounds like a defective unit . Contact the vendor where you got it , and get it replaced . You also , really need to have a back-up device , for when things like this happen . More advice , is to try getting a bit better device , to replace the one you have . Look at the ego " Twists " , or Vision " Spinners " and maybe some clearomizers , like the mini Vivi-Nova , or the Kanger " Evod " amongst others . Again you need to have a back-up device . Maybe like you have now , only working . Good Luck

It's an automatic battery I take it. That is, you don't have a button you press to fire it up right? Those can be touchy. They're triggered by the air flow when you take a drag. Sounds like the little air flow switch has gone bad. Definitely you'd need the company you bought it from to swap it out.

In general, though, I abandoned auto batteries pretty fast myself. I started with a Blu but dumped it quickly. The ones that try to look like a cigarette (often called "cig-a-like" around here) can be a real pain in neck. A system using eGo batteries like this: Spinner/Twist Combo is much closer to what I wish I'd started with and is the type most recommended around here for new vapers (doesn't have to be that one specifically but it's an example of the kind of kit that's probably a better "starter" than the "cig-a-like" and is basically the set up I ended up at but took the long route to get to... well, still, Blu got me started so wasn't too much of a loss).

And Renzuli is right, you need a back up. Batteries do fail. But it doesn't sound like the charge is the issue. That little air flow switch thing that triggers the battery automatically when you take a drag probably flaked.

Thanks Mark and Renzuli - I'll contact Premium tomorrow and see what they can do about a replacement, and in the meantime, I'll look into the products y'all suggested... thanks so much for the replies!

By the way, in a pinch, Blu and NJoy have got their disposables in just about every Walgreens and grocery store and who knows where all these days. They're not bad. Don't care at all for Blu's kit (had one, dumped it in two weeks) but their disposables are pretty good. NJoy's are more like actual cigs than Blu but that was a negative for me.

But I'll do just about anything to stay away from cigs now. 35 years of smoking and vaping is the only thing that got me off the things. I ain't goin' back! :)

Something to keep in mind

Automatic batteries, in general like in your kit ...

If you look inside the battery's connector, you'll see a small hole in the middle.
If any liquid from the cartridge, happens to seap into this hole, It will gunk up the insides of the battery and cause problems like your having now.

When you get a replacment battery ...
Try to wipe out the inside of battery's connector, before changing out the cartridge and before you connect the battery to the charger.

Something to keep in mind

Mark -- I'm probably an oddity in terms of my requirements in looking for an "e-cig" - i quit smoking 16 years ago.. never touched another one, never wanted to, till about 4 months ago.. started hanging out with a guy that smoked, and ended up picking up cigs again... thing is, i HATE the taste of cigarettes.. even the menthols i used to smoke taste Nasty, but I cant seem to just put them down again... I got an ecig at one point to try and quit, but it tasted even nastier than a regular cig... I was looking at getting a hookah and some flavored shisha, but heard that the smoke from the coal burning is just as unhealthy.. then someone told me that there were E-cig companies that have flavors too.... so that was the priority when I chose Premium... they have a lot of non-tobacco flavors, and the flavors are all available in a range of nic content, from high to low and including "no nicotine" ... i do well with the lowest level, and am hoping to drop down to the non-nicotine one.. i know that the Blu cigs available in the stores are only the tobacco-tasting ones, and even online they only have a few flavors .. none of which sound that great.... the one I got with my starter pac for the Premium Ecig was the clove flavor ... lol memories of college days and clove cigarettes--- do the products you suggested, have those options also? flavors, and no- and low-nicotine levels?

Hi Jessica.

I had a Premium and when I had problems with a Battery they were Very Quick to get it resolved.

Here is something you can do in the meanwhile.

Unscrew the Battery and Blow thru the LED end. Now check to see if there is any e-Liquid in the thread where you screw the Cartridge onto the Battery. If there is, Clean it out with a Q-Tip or a Rolled up Piece of Paper Towel. Repeat blowing from the LED end a few Times

Now give it a Blow from the Cartridge end. Pop it back on the Charger and if it is still Green, Give it a test Vape.

With any Auto Battery, if e-Liquid gets into the Battery it can Gum up the Vacuum Switch that makes the Battery Turn On and Turn Off.

Oh absolutely. More options than I think anybody could get through in a life time. I've got... four or five different blueberries I'm sampling right now. I love blueberries. :) My local vape shop lists 232 (!) flavors. There's high nic, low nic, no nic, you name it. The prefilled cartridges are way more limited in options...
