Define insanely. A lot of the smaller popular artisan shops charge around $12 for 30ml. That gets high quality ingredients, a good mix.

At moderately heavy vaping on a standard pv that is a 10 day supply. At high voltage I run about 6 ml typical, but that is more than many vape.

A sell of $12 is about 3x the base cost of material (for me, as a diy person), but there is the time and effort to come up with the mixes, actual mixing, overhead related to setting up and maintaining a web presence, material ordering and inventory tracking, credit card processing fees, the simple fact that the vendors are doing this as a living, need to make a profit. Vendors with brick and mortar presence have much higher overhead.

Net, I'm happy to recommend the vendors I do. Some of the shops that charge much higher prices beat me, but if people are willing to pay the price, so be it. In the hardware side you will see similar variance, certain products that people are willing to pay much higher prices for than their basic cost of material and production.

I originally calculated my own vaping cost as about $2.50/day, including hw, eliquid, shipping instead of my old pad smoking habit. Since I've switched to a pair of decent vv mods, my overall cost has dropped to about $2/day (the mods are workhorses).

    in a cave, eh?
BlueMistVaping has the largest sizes I've seen. TastyVapor.us does have 4 oz. doublers; you would have to mix that with their 1 oz. nic flavours.

If you really need 500ml, you might want to look at mixing your own flavours. e-Liquid is a mixture of nicotine juice, propylene glycol (ask at the pharmacy counter or look for a farm supplier), vegetable glycerine (Glycerine USP - pharmacy aisle or farm supply) and flavouring. You can optionally add water or vodka.

You are looking at tiny amounts.

Say you vape 6ml/day, a reasonably heavy vaper. That is only 1/5 of an ounce, over 12+ hours.

That eliquid won't, practically speaking, have more than 15% or so alcohol, otherwise you end up with eliquid that is too thin.

This means you are looking at about 1/6 of 1/5 of an ounce, 1/30 ounce (1 ml), ingested over 12+ hours. Grant that it is pga, so it is like 2ml of 100 proof in 12+ hours, or 1/6 of 1 ml (1/180 of an ounce) per hour.

Between your body metabolizing it, and the fraction that isn't absorbed (goes back out as vapor), I have to expect you are way down in the noise floor.

Isn't the alcohol burned(for lack of better word) off when heated?
And I too like Bluemist ....got 180 ml for like $30.00 bucks and the almond macaroon is so yummy, I can hardly put it down....

I'm guessing the concern is about failing a drug screening test mandated by the employer. And not so much about failing a breathalyzer test administered by a highway patrolman. And I have no idea if any of the alcohol might register in trace amounts.

The only thing making me nuts about my silver bullet is that everytime I switch the batteries the charged ones burn out the cartomizer I'm using. Not sure why but it's making me insane. The batteries last all day but if I have to change cartomizers everyday that will get to be about 75 bucks a month plus tax. That doesn't leave me much savings after buying juice for the month too.
