Man I'm disgusted ... I bought my first box mod and received it no more than a month ago. I also purchased 4 of the TF 14500 along with a TF charger. After less than a month, 2 of the 4 batts wouldn't hold a charge, and I'm not even sure both the charging ports on the TF charger are functioning correctly. One of the charging ports always shows a green light, no matter whether there's a dead batt on it or not! So yesterday I bought the pricier AW 14500 batts. MAN this burns me! Is the TF charger also crap? If so, what should I get?

If it's less than a month, can't you contact the vendor and replace them? I'd start there. There's probably a higher rate of failure on the cheaper chargers, but I think most perform fairly well. I use an Ultrafire WF-139 and although it's been criticized here, mine's in almost constant use for everything without a problem. Maybe the bad charger caused your battery problem too. Good luck with a return/exchange!

I've had my TR 001 charger and TF 14500 flames batteries for about a year now. The batteries are still going strong, although they're starting to show their age. The TR 001 charger still works great, although I had to repair the cord because it fatigued and the wires broke in one spot. I have relegated the batteries to backup duty and mostly use AW IMR's now as the voltage doesn't drop off as quickly as the Li-ion's.

I got a set of grey Ultrafires at the same time as the TF flames and only used them a few times because they were clearly inferior to the TF flames and didn't produce decent vapor after about 1/2 hour of use. Although the AW's are about double the cost of either the TF's and UF's, they're worth it.

Personally, I've had great luck with my Ultrafire WF-188 charger (also a smart charger). It's cheap and does a great job on charging a battery.

Anyways, it sounds like you had a case of bad luck to me. The 2 batts you had are DOA since they don't hold a charge and the charger seems faulty as well.

Definitely contact the vendor to see what they can do for you. Or what I would do is try to get a refund and go somewhere else.

And next time get yourself some AW batteries. And when you save up some money get a pila charger.

+1 on this. I went over the top and ordered a hobby charger, but CC/CV (Constant Current, Constant Voltage) is the stamp you're looking for. They'll treat your batteries much better over time. The pila is a great choice. I don't own one, but have heard nothing but good things about them. RTDVapor has a couple CC/CV with more ports, but 2 (the Pila) is generally enough for most... it'll charge your second pair faster than you can drain the pair in the mod.

You are playing russian roulette whenever you buy trust or ultra fire batteries. AW may seem more expensive, but if you count all the DOA or wierd sized batteries you get from fire companies, then its about the same cost.

Plus, it's nice to have batteries that "just work". Battery issues were my biggest frustration getting in to vaping with mods. Now I have AW sitting around that fit mods I don't even own anymore... just in case. :p

The charger may be the problem. If the light stays green with a dead batt, obviously it isn't charging and may be the cause of the two dead batteries.

I would suggest not using that charger on your new AW batteries. It may ruin them too.

Here is a link to SuperT manufacturing. They have really good prices on batteries and you can find a charger there too. Shipping is cheap.

Uh, I just checked. They have Pila charger. $45.00

Here's a dual slot AG-126 from Madvapes: $7.99 http://www.madvapes.com/AG-126-Lithium-Ion-Battery-Charger_p_2062.html

Have you tried moving the battery around a bit on the charger that doesn't turn red? That's a pretty common issue with the TR001. I've had my flames and TR001 for about 2 months, and so far so good. Been encountering some minor issues on a new mod that I'm still trying to figure out, but other than that they've worked great.

^^ that. I often have to roll my batteries a little to get the light to turn red.
