I have been reading this section for days, but still have a few questions, hope you can help :)

1. Where and in what quantities do most of you buy your unflavored nicotine?

2. I understand that oil based or non water soluable flavors arent good for the atty, however, very fond of buttermint and doublmint flavored ejuice, and seeing that the mint flavors are oils, how would I make recipes for buttermint or any other mint without killing my atty?

3. This is what I have purchased so far (below) what am I missing besides the unflavored nicotine, that I will definitely need?

Several flavors from happy vaper, and the mint flavorings from loranns, mostly in drams
package of 4 3ml pipettes
30 ml bottle of vg
120 ml bottle of pg
syringes I can get here, along with gloves. regarding gloves do you recommend rubber as opposed to latex?
10 each 15ml dropper bottles and 10ml dropper bottles
Have some 5ml bottles here already

I believe that is it so far.

Regarding syringes, what size syringe and needles are recommended?

Any other suggestions or recipes anyone wants to share are appreciated, thanks for your help!

as far as nic content.. the easiest way is to order a nic content of atleast double what you want final product to be.. if you want 24mg order 48 or 100mg so it is easy to break down.. you can always get the 100 and break it down to get 4 bottles of 25mg too the higher the better as far as cost goes..

for flavors.. look at cabellas not sure that is spelt right.. lorann's candy flavorings, and faeries finest you can google them all and buy direct from the supplier or there is a few shops on here that do dyi things..

Great, ty for your responses! One more question, at extremevaping.com I see the nic juice is mixed with pg or vg from the getgo, so when mixing the flavors, do you just ignore the pg or vg that is already in the nic juice?

I do ignore the pg/vg in the nic liquid when mixing since it was used to cut the 99% pure nic down to a useable level.

You asked about mint but I am not that helpful there...hate minty stuff lol I did mix some for my sister but I did not really measure. I just ground up the crystals, added PG and put it all in a dropper bottle. She uses 1-2 drops to flavor her liquids.

As for syringes, I have 1ml, 3ml, 6ml, and 10ml. I do not typically use needles but do have a few 18g just in case I might need them.

I have been getting my nic liquid from http://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/diy.html and it is really good. I buy 125ml bottles of the 60mg which I then cut with 30/70 VG/PG down to 18mg. This makes 416.7mls of 18mg liquid.

Recipes can be found here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-liquid-recipes/

I prefer latex gloves since that is what I use in my lab.

I like the nic liquid from Welcome to XtremeVaping.com . It's clear, nearly colorless and the price is very nice.

SuperTrkrE2812 is a forum member here at ECF, as well.

His liquid gets rave reviews, and is a great price, but I would not recommend to someone just starting in DIY to get 100 mg juice. I think new DIYers should start with safer levels, like 48 mg or less, until they learn how to handle high-nic juice safely. IMHO.

For oil-based flavors, there is a solution that some people seem to have had success with. This involves mixing it with approximately equal parts alcohol so it dissolves properly and can mix with the water. The only post I can find on it right now is this one. However, if you're interested in DIY mint I recommend you check out Menthol Crystals.

Latex or rubber should both work fine, though latex probably makes it easier on you.

When you get started in the mixing process, check my guide out, it should help.

If you check his website, he sells concentrations of 25 mg, 36 mg and 50 mg as well as the 100 mg nicotine.

Purevapor, I read your guide, very helpful, ty :)

It did bring up another question, sweetners. Can you give me some idea of what flavors might need sweetening? I realize this is totally opinion based, and opinions vary from user to user, but whatever you may have found or heard would be helpful.

Also if I find I need to use a sweetner, when and how would I add this. In other words where in the mixing process should this be done? Is it just added by trial and error as far as the amount?

Just about any flavor can handle some sweetener, it really just depends on your sweet tooth. It works best with dessert flavors and anything you prefer to be sweet if it were in edible form (fruit, chocolate, candy, etc). The strength may depend on where you buy it, but you'll be fine as long as you start small. Scubabatdan recommends 1 drop per 10ml of the Splendex solution. This thread has some discussion about it: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/37147-sweet-juice-finally.html#post565794

Very good thread, I too am searching for a recipe for those little buttermints! I like the yellow ones that are more buttery! Also they remind me of the Hickory Farms meltaway mints! I have some dbl mint from HG that I mixed with a menthol tobacco no nic juice. I do like the taste. I just wish it was a bit sweeter and more buttery. I am like Paula Deen...love that butter!
