Nickel wire is Ni200, so look for that. The thing about nickel wire is that it is very soft, and when you wind nickel coils you will need to make spaced coils. Lightning Vapes is a good brand. They also have two types of nickel wire, annealed and tempered. Tempered nickel wire will be a bit stiffer so it will be easier to wind and to hold their shape.

Ni200 is the grade you want (many TC mods will also accept titanium [Ti] wire). Gauge will depend on the resistance you are targeting for your coil and how many wraps you have space for and want to use in your atty. Nickel, I understand, likes spaced coils better than the common closed coils. Winding them on a machine screw of the appropriate diameter will help with this.

I have a new TC mod on the way and I am using a Kanger SubTank mini RBA. I would like to know which nickel wire to use on it. Mainly, brand and gauge is what I need to know... I think. Please help me choose wisely.

For the STM I'd recommend Temco Ni 200 28 AWG. You will get the resistance you need with a reasonable number of wraps. You can also try 26 AWG if you like to go big. Around 3.0 mm ID for the coil works well. Any bigger and the wick tails tend to choke up in the juice wells.

To make perfect spaced coils (one wire diameter apart), I suggest this method:

You can also make perfect coils with closer spacing by using a smaller diameter wire as the "spacer." Discard the smaller diameter spacer after wrapping the coils.

I have tried both and have had better luck with the tempered nickle it is much easier to work with than the softer NI200 both from Lightning vapes. I might add even spacing is important in a good build. It took a quite a few tries before I was able to get used to it. Much different than regular Kanthal builds but persistence pays off, when you get it right you will know.

WOW! thank you all for the excellent information and suggestions. I also just ordered a "Kuro Koiler" kit to make winding coils easier. I am hoping to build coils in the 0.5 to 1 ohm range. And I just installed the app "MicroCoil Pro" on my tablet for even further assistance. I think I will be pretty much set to venture forth into the next phase of my vaping experience. And to think, I never was a smoker to begin with... just a gadget freak. :thumb:
