Whats up everyone. Thought I would give all this a try. Ive been a 1.5 pack a day guy for about 10 years, figure I should look after myself and try to quit. Im really hoping this works, I have a considerable amount of doubt that these ecigs can satisfy the same as a regular cig but Im really hoping they do. Glad I found a forum to help guide me through the process.

I think most of us were surprised they worked. Granted I'm only three weeks in but I was a 1-1.5 pad for 13ish years and haven't even wanted one since I got my ego kit. Do keep in mind not all e-cigs are created equally. What type of setup are you using/plan to use?

Welcome and good luck, you're definitely in the right place.

Vapeing is a viable alternative to smoking, and not a cessation product. Vapeing is similar to smoking as u can inhale nicotine and get the hand to mouth action that satisfies many, and exhale plumes of Vaper.

I hope your journey follows the same as mine did.

I'm sure u well find a suitable starting point here on ECF, and Welcome.

GL and feel free to ask away any questions u may have.

Hey drod. Welcome to ecf. I smoked for about 25 years and quit right after I got my first kit. It's been almost two years Since ive had a cigarette. You'll find that nothing is going to taste exactly like a smoking. You probably won't believe me when I say that this probably won't matter to you for long. Many people soon realize that cigarettes really don't taste as good as they think they do. LOL. once your sense of smell starts to come back you may find yourself disgusted with the smell of cigarettes. Try to embrace the flavors and branch out from tobacco flavors. You might be surprised at what you find you love.

Oh, and to add, I was an accidental quitter. I had tried so many times to quit (patch, gum- lots of gum, Wellbutrin, cold turkey). When someone suggested ecigs to me I blew them off. They kept pestering me and finally I went and got one to check it out. I had no hopes that I would switch at all. Thought at best I might be able to cut down a bit. To my surprise I had (iirc) 3 partial cigarettes after I got my first e cig. I quickly switched to a better set up, but I could tell even from the subpar kit that I started with, that there was something to this.

I know I was. I wasn't even trying to "quit". I just saw a Blu disposable while getting my regular carton and wanted to try out this "e-cig" thing I'd been hearing about.

Then forgot to light up for the next nine hours. No, seriously. Forgot.

Kinda freaked me out...

I smoked 1.5 packs a day unfiltered for 20+ years. I also started with the Blu but didn't find that it met my needs in order to actually quit smoking. Once I got an ego set-up I was able to get off the tobacco, just be sure you don't go too low on your nic level initially or you'll want the cigs. If you're anything like me and have been a heavy smoker you'll probably want to upgrade from an ego set-up pretty quickly, but in the meantime you'll be able to gain some knowledge here and through videos on YouTube, etc that will be invaluable once you make the jump to a personal vaporizer or "Mod". The most important thing to remember is there is a learning curve so don't get discouraged. Your vaping experience will improve as you learn what works best for you.

Have you tried NJoy kings at all? You can find these at walgreens. I wouldn't recommend them as a permanent set up as they are disposable, don't last long, and are relatively expensive. You can get 1 for about $8, and it will probably last you um... Maybe 2 hours of heavy use. Aft you try that you could post back here about what you like and don't like and that would give us some idea of what to recommend.

A lot of people start out with an ego of some sort. My second set up was sort of like an ego and it lasted me a few months before I felt the need to upgrade.

If you have any local vape shops, it would be worth stopping by one and trying some things out. Just to get an idea of what you need to be looking for.

ETA- the reason I mentioned the NJoy kings is because a lot of people say they are the closest to cigarettes that they have found. By the time I tried them I had been off cigs for over a year and a half, and vaping a variable voltage mod, so they didn't blow me away. I found the flavor pleasant though, and they do 'feel' like a cigarette.

Any quick recomendations for a beginner that needs the taste and feel of a cigarette or at least as close as possible?

Heh, yeah: "No you don't." :)

Seriously, it's almost like some kind of "phase" just about everybody goes through. Maybe because the old habit is familiar and comfortable? The bad news is, you're not going to duplicate the experience of smoking. The good news is, vaping is better. Way better. I had a two pack a day habit for some 30 years. Now I can't imagine going back. The "taste" and "feel" of cigarettes is awful, cardboard, harsh, and they give me a headache. Who wants to duplicate that?

Also, with cigarettes, I can't switch clearos like I just did between this paragraph and the last and have a whole different flavor.

Experiment with different flavors. Find vendors with samples or buy small bottles of different things. If you have a vape store you can go to that lets you sample, do so. Cigarettes just cannot compete in terms of variety. Not even slightly. The vape world is just better.

I appreciate the welcomes guys, really. thank you. Im enjoying reading of longer term smokers being able to quit. Gives me a lot of hope.

Just for a little encouragement....I smoked for over 50 years, now I'm done. I suggest you get a few sampler packs of juice to try. You will always want more than one flavor.

Quoted for truth! Think of it like this; cigarettes are simply a nicotine delivery system Vaping is also a nicotine delivery system. As long as your body is content you're mind will follow, or the other way around, whatever. The point is you won't miss the "taste" and "feel" for long!

The biggest issue I had with my first ego setup with the crappy clearos that came with it. Thankfully I happened to buy a Vivi tank at the same time (not that knew what one was at the time). At least I had a better alternative and that made a lot of difference until I found cartos and eventually moved on to other atomizer/tank etc options.

This is a great deal and it comes with tanks to start off

Welcome to the forum drod....That seems to be almost standard for someone trying to quit smoking by turning to vaping. Find something that tastes like a cigarette...I did it initially and many others have as well,. There are a few juices out their that taste somewhat like a cigarette, and I tried several. Nothing was "exactly" like a cigarette. The big thing for me turned out to be finding the correct nic strength so the craving would subside and a juice that I liked that I would vape all day. These days I dont even look for anything that tastes like an analog. I'm having to much fun looking for the best flavor juices that I can find and the best delivery system for it. I smoked for 33 years and was a 1.5 to 2 pack a day smoker. I smoked my last analog one night before bed and got up the next morning and started vaping. I havent had an analog since. If I can do it, anyone can. The people here are most helpful and will do whatever we can to try and keep you from going back to the stinkies...

Keep this in mind... There are about as many juice delivery options as there are ecigs. Choosing what to try can be maddening. There are clearos, cartos, carto tanks, bottom coils, top coils, rebuildables, etc... About a bazillion companies make their own versions of each of these. It can drive you bat....crazy. Just know that if the first thing you try doesn't do it for you, there are many other options, with more coming out all the time. As you get your feet wet you be be able to more clearly see what you like and what doesn't do it for you. The first kit is really a shot in the dark (but not really that bad, because you've got a whole board of help here).

I tried a bunch out and found that my favorite is a cartomizer in a tank. Other people can't stand em. Many people like vivi Novas, I hate them. Matter of fact, I've got one unopened that I'd send you for free. LOL.
