40+ years smoking here. Able to quit off and on but always went back to cigs.
Hubby never, EVER quit and smoked 1 1/2 to 2 PAD for 40+ years too. He had NO desire to quit. He loved smoking.
Got an EGo set up and just ask him to try it.
We are now at almost 100 days and cig free!
I think he was actually a little mad at me that he did quit! LOL

Clearos? wow, I have a lot to learn hahaha no clue what that is but sounds interesting. Think ill check out some of the reviews on the site. or an ego set up like holly9000 recomended.

Just short for "clearomizers". Little tanks that have wicks inside. Like this:

large_EGO-CE5_Cartomizer_-_green.jpg

The "atomizer" is the little heater coil widget that vaporizes the juice. When they started combining the atomizer with other things, I guess people started adding "-mizer" to end. Like the "cartomizer" is a cartridge with an atomizer built in.

The eGo style stuff is pretty good. I've got Twist batteries (which are variable voltage, you can adjust the heat level) and use clearos with them. And over time have bought several clearos (and spare coil heads) so I keep about seven filled and ready. Switching flavors is unscrew a clearo, screw on a new one and go. They're easy to fill also. And clean and all. Convenient little widgets. :)

If you look at the UNO vapor website, you can see they are selling a rebranded ego. . That kit there comes with ce4s, which are an example of clearomizers. The price is pretty high though. You could get the same (or better) setup for less elsewhere. Do you think that's what your bud has? Did you try his, and if so what did you think about it?

Thank you!! that looks like something ill try. Looks like one a friend has. He's actually who talked me into this. He has a "Uno Vapor" swears by it. Im just confused about what to buy. Thanks holly, appreciate it.

I like the way My Vapor Store pulls a kit together: Spinner/Twist Combo. I went through two different ones before landing more or less where that kit would have started me. You don't have to buy from them nor that specific kit but it's an example of what I, at least, would think of as a "starter" now. They pull the basics together nicely.

They're also a Forum Supplier here at ECF. The Forum Supplier section is a good place to start to find reputable vendors when you're new.

That's a nice set up there.

Any quick recomendations for a beginner that needs the taste and feel of a cigarette or at least as close as possible?

Here's the funny thing. What you probably need is the action of smoking (moving hand to face, inhaling something, exhaling something like smoke) and the nicotine. IMHO don't look for a tobacco flavour - try RY4 or a fruit one. You'll be amazed at how good this can be, and you'll just get frustrated trying to find something that tastes like tobacco.

DON'T get a device that looks like a cigarette. Try something like an Ego to begin with (manual switch, decent battery life). You will move on to a Vamo or similar eventually but probably don't want to carry a small lightsabre initially.

With the Ego battery (you'll need at least 2) maybe try an Evod. I am using one at the moment and it seems to be both easy to use and reliable. Great vapour production, too.

Whichever way you decide to go - good luck. You'll find that this is a friendly forum with tons of people eager to help out if you need them to.

wow 13 years, thats awesome. A bit inspiring also. What set up or system do you use? I really just need something that tasts and feels like a marlboro blend 27. Thats what ive been smoking for years and its killing me.

I'm a little late but I have a basic ego battery and an ego twist. Being able to adjust the voltage is a great thing. I use iClear 16 clearos and like them a lot, but I'm no where near done experimenting. Also worth noting is that I like my girlfriend's vision spinner more than my ego twist.

And I'll second what others said about the flavor, I never thought I'd want to puff on something fruity all day, but I absolutely love my water-berry flavor (watermelon and strawberry.. Omg so good). Granted I do have a Newport flavor but I think it's just the menthol I like and I'll most likely wind up getting a "cleaner" menthol.. Or maybe just mint.

Edit: oh and my 13 years is nothing.. I've seen posts here with people quitting after 30, 40 years. It works if you work it.

Double edit: 100% agree with the person above me on all counts.

Yeah I tried it, definatly felt like a cigarette but was menthol flavor (not a fan) and still for not being a fan of menthol, struck me enough to come to this site and look into one for myself. hahaha

I'm very new to all this as well. If I can suggest anything, it's really to emphasize earlier posts suggesting that you find a local shop that specializes in e-cigs and PVs. As a general rule of thumb, I'd avoid convenience stores (I've seen a few that have a few quality items among the bunk, but they're universally overpriced). I have two local specialty shops near me and having a salesperson with the knowledge (and enthusiasm!) to take you through the ropes and let you try a few things makes a BIG difference. Not to mention you'll get some hands-on instruction on things that are tough to read about, such as draw technique.

I'm just about 3 weeks smoke-free since starting with an eGo-C battery and a Tabac BCC clearomizer (AKA Kanger T3(?)). I was so impressed that I've already upgraded to a nicer rig. BUT!..

...Do NOT start unless you have the right mindset to quit. Make sure your heart is in it or nothing will work. Nothing will duplicate a real cigarette, but it doesn't have to; vaping is better. Different, yes, but better. You'll be amazed at how little you'll need to take the edge off, too.

I make the apple pie juice myself, but DIY is a whole other can of worms...

With the spinner, you spin the dial on the bottom to choose which voltage you are going to vape at. It's like entry level variable voltage. Then you press a button to activate the coils when you go to vape, For example, a regular ego uses 3.4 volts (I think, used to be at least), and you can't change it. It's just 3.4 Volts whenever you press the button. Some non-VV devices heat at 3.7 volts. With variable voltage you can change the voltage to suit the resistance (ohms) of your clearomizer/carto/whatever and to suit your juice and personal preferences. VV can get you a much more personalized vape.

No offense to victor here, but I have to disagree. And I wouldn't point it out if I didn't think it was important for some. Many people here were accidental quitters. I had resigned myself to smoking forever and I really didn't think ecigs would work. I thought it was another thing I would waste money on. I wanted to quit, but I didn't even remotely think I would quit. The reason I think this is an important point is that some of us have been through so many quit attempts and ultimately failed, we can put a lot of pressure on ourselves. Then, first slip up and we are dejected and think we are failures. Just speaking for myself here, but I can't be alone in this can I? For me, I think it was perfect that I didn't start with the intention of quitting. It relieved the pressure of, "THIS MUST WORK OR I AM A FAILURE". Jmo.

An obviously, going into it with the mindset that you are really ready is great and works for some, but I just wanted to point out that you don't necessarily have to have that state of mind to succeed.

Welcome to ECF! I know I was one of the surprised vaper's who was able to quit analog's completely once I started vaping. I have been analog free since last Saturday and I have absolutely no desire to touch a cigarette. My husband is following suit and ordering his kit as well. He brought home a few cigarettes he bummed off a work friend and left one sitting on the counter for me. I told him to smoke it because I didn't want it. I was smoking 1.5 PAD to 2 PAD for 20 years, and had tried to quit many times and they were unsuccessful due to the fact that I like to smoke. I bought my kit, and have never looked back. I just got my first order of juice from MBV and it's amazing. I'm slowly working my way down to 0% nicotine. I started with 2.4, went down to 1.8 and now I am vaping 1.2% nic. My next order will consist of 6mg and then on to 0 from there. Wishing you the best of luck, but in order for this to be successful you have to have an open mind and use positive thoughts. It's not easy, you will go through all the withdraw symptoms as if you gave the analogs up cold turkey, but each person is different. It is a great feeling knowing that I can fulfill my desire to inhale something, and know that it isn't filled with 4000 different cancer causing chemicals.
