Hi everyone.

As you can probably tell from the title of this thread, I'm trying to get my girlfriend to give up smoking. I personally don't smoke myself so I don't have a clue about vaping or smoking for that matter, but my girlfriend has a hard time giving it up. She's tried using disposable e-cigs but says she doesn't like them. I've been reading through some of the threads and it has been really helpful. I just need some help as to finding a decent vape pen or e cig as well as the e liquid? to try and ease her into it.

My girlfriend smokes Benson & Hedges Gold. She normally smokes a pack a day or it can last her up until 2 days. I'm just wondering if anyone could help in directing me to a decent replacement so that she could ease into. I've looked at B&H (Gold&Silver) from Go-Liquid but not sure if it's a good replacement for her.

Sorry if I haven't provided enough information. Thanks for taking your time to read this.

here's a great starter kit and the price is right. Innokin Endura T18 Starter Kit .
trying to recapture the taste of a cig/ particular cig is going to be difficult. if you can find a store that allows you to sample flavors she might just find a flavor that appeals. the flavor difference is part of the allure of switching. GL

Welcome @Michaelvtt

Are you UK? If so, I can advise about hardware.

Gold and Silver is one of those 'old' tobacco-style e-liquids that people tried because of the B&H connection. It's one of the sweetest tobaccos and not like a B&H at all.
Trouble is, nothing tastes like cigarette smoke, a 'thing' which becomes obvious after the 50th (or 100th) bottle of e-liquid when searching for a cig replacement.

Rumours circulate the e-cig world about 'most realistic' cig replacement flavours but it's just a lucky dip really. The trick is to find something you like and enjoy vaping. For me, that was more Hangsen than anything (they use tobacco extract).
I also vaped a lot of the 'ash tray' Dekang liquids. Triple 5, Virginia, Flue Cured.

Tobacco - Dekang E-Liquids

I looked at Go-liquid but it seemed to be all gourmet stuff. Any clues?

Myepack are good for e-cigs (starters, mods, all sorts) whilst I am looking on there at Dekang.

Starter Kits

The Innokin Endura is getting good reviews as a starter kit.

Hello and welcome to the forum @Michaelvtt. Glad to have you here!:)

Another option, is an iStick 30 watt or Coolfire 4 (both mods) with an Aspire Mini Nautilus or eLeaf GS Air M (both tanks). Sweet-Vapes (if you are located in the USA) carries them. Videos below.

eLeaf iStick 30 Watt
Innokin Coolfire 4

eLeaf GS Air M Tank

For e-liquid (often called juice) visit your local vape shop so your GF can try flavors to find what she likes.

Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

Hi @djsvapour, Thanks for your reply. Yes I am from the UK. I'm not even 100% sure if its the taste of smoke that my girlfriend likes or it's the nicotine? She's tried other cigarettes but doesn't like them and always goes back to the Benson & Hedges Gold. She's tried a disposable cigarette from Tesco, but she says it has a weird taste and a bit strong? I think I'll have to take her to a vape store and see what flavour she really likes. I'll take both yours and 2naphish recommendations for the Innoken Endura starter kit and start from there. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

If she has the will to step away from the cig, then she most likely switch easily. My wife is a light smoker and she is quitting but doesn't want to vape, no matter what. " Go smoke your vape" she tells me when I offer her a puff, lol... She may smoke 1 or 2 cig a day right now... I think that she will succeed. As for me, heavier smoker, the nicotine content was the critical element in my switching. With 2-4 puffs of a 24mg/ml ejuice on an ego type batterie was killing the craving down in a heart bit. I had to have something that look and taste a bit like a cigarette though. No box mod at that time, but a spinner V2 was fine in the first 3-weeks before I progressed to better performance gears. As 2naphish porposed, the Innokin Endura T18 Starter Kit seems to be a good start.
Good luck!

Cowtown, USA. Where the West begins.
I would recommend the iStick 30 and an Aspire Nautilus tank. Be aware it isn't going to work unless she actually wants to get off the cigs. And I suggest you get her on the board so we can talk to her, help her over the rough spots, of which there will be many.

Smokers tend to not like new flavors, it upsets their 'expectation'.
(Presuming) she'll have some sort of addiction to Nicotine, you can get the Nicotine from Vaping, but again, the taste is unfamiliar. (There's a lot of psychology).
A disposable will not address the Nicotine issue, not on up to a pack a day.
(There's a whole page to write on that...)
Most people find e-cigarettes 'harsh' at first. It's the primary reason people give up on them (that and buying low satisfaction/low nicotine products found in supermarkets and petrol stations). A good e-cig won't look like a plastic cigarette. Some people get off smoking with them, but that's mostly will-power I'm sorry to say, not efficacy.
Acclimatizing takes a few weeks (I don't usually recommend buying one and quitting immediately). At first you think "I can't do this, it tastes bad and is harsh/strange".
You just keep doing it until one day you're doing it more, then it's a downhill run to the finish. Smokers aren't scared of the health issues because they block it out and promise to quit 'one day'. Very few do.
E-cigs do work and they are 95% safer, but having the mental state to take them seriously can't be implanted on a person, I'm afraid years of denial (of the smoking) take their toll.

I used to roll B&H too (aside from Amber Leaf / others), 25 gr / 2 days = roughly the same volume as your girlfriend.

When i switched (last Oct.) it was a matter of getting something quick AND cheap. I knew absolutely zero about vaping at the time. I didn't want a 'cig-alike' (i have an instant dislike of everything "look-alike"), or anything disposable - after a quick and very confusing internet search i figured i want something with a glass tank and a sort of decent battery, at a lowest price. I went for this: Vapour E-Cigarette Starter Kit 900 | Electronic Cigarette | KiK < it's a british brand. I know they got a pretty bad press, but i was really pleased with it. Still using their batteries as my out-in-town and driving vapes, as they are pocket-friendly and last long enough - also nicely made.
(The tanks are so-so - i liked them though in the beginning, but they don't take the standard Kanger coils. The coils are rebuildable though.)
I think they are pretty good value for money, esp. with the 20% off online - also you can come across them on sale in stores for even less.

My first liquid ever was also from them, the 'Gold & Silver' incidentally. It does not taste like tobacco at all but was good enough to make the switch.

That said, and as others wrote, i too would recommend an iStick for a battery - a mini or a 30W. But if she finds the form factor too alien, start with a pen-shaped eGo setup first.

For a tank, a Kanger Protank II or Protank II Mini. I found them consistently good and failproof / leakproof. Never tried the Nautilus Mini, but i have a regular Nautilus which is fantastic on a good day but a leaky gargoyle on a bad day - i mostly use it at home only.
The Protank II coils are also very easily rebuildable, which will be a bonus later down the road if she gets into it.

What I have advised smokers is don't worry about quitting smoking, smoke as much as you want BUT vape, and keep on vaping, and vape some more, and see what happens with your smoking. My experience with a few people is if you don't stop vaping you'll eventually stop smoking. It took me 6 weeks of dual using to go to zero cigs. It took a brother of mine 9 months. How ever long it takes daily cigarettes decline, usually a lot and the money saved is a good reward. It adds up.

I would talk with her and verify that she wants to vape.
Then, before spending money...both of you take a visit to a vape shop and let her do her "own choosing / finding".
...'cause you know otherwise...anything "wrong" will be "your fault" - you bought it for her...

I bought one of those! Dekang Silver 'Ambra Leaf', high VG, can't be too bad, right?

Took me a while to pin down where i knew that taste from - back in 1994 autumn some mice got into the insulation of the electric oven, and judging by the smell got burnt alive in there. The Dekang Ambra Leaf tastes exactly like that smell.

I agree with forgetting the cig taste. When I started I went to my vape shop and the guy asked what flavors I wanted. I said none of that mamby pamby stuff give me something that tastes like a real smoke. I walked out and 2 days later I was back asking for something that tastes good. Now I am hooked on a medley of flavors and I love it. Been stinkie free since day 1 and loving it :)

She can do it, and we can help you both when she hits the rough spots :)

Awww... I hope she cares about you caring about her, as much as you care about her..

Seriously, AWESOME thing you are trying to do for her. I wish you the BEST of luck, but she DOES kind of need to want it, as well. NOT an easy task for someone determined, let alone someone who isn't really wanting to do it for themselves. Looking forward to hearing your success story though!

And welcome to the Forum! If you can get HER to join, half the battle. GREAT resource here, and wonderful support network.

Looks like you have got a lot of good advice so far, I just got my chick on the vape and off of cigs...it was not ez and she has been trying for a while now. I have also bought a lot of gear for her trying to find what worked for her...look up the kanger subvod. ( not what she is using) It uses the subtank Nano witch is the tank that works for my chick she is 10 days with no cigs.....but I would make sure she is down too she is gonna have to want it to work. Hope this helps both of you

I agree with going to your local vape shop Virgin Vapors has a BOGO sale on all their hardware. They have some really pretty beginner batteries. They have V/V spinner type with pretty paisley designs for about $25, and you get 2 for that price, also they have designer batteries with different art and some very big bling batteries.

I started my vaping journey many years ago when the only thing you could buy were the cig type stuff. I then got a vision spinner which lasted about a year. Now I have a few mods and sub ohm tanks.

What it took for me to completely quit the cigs was finding a flavor of ejuice that was better than a cigarette, for me it was a strawberry desert ejuice. I think if you find a flavor you love you'll reach for that over cigs any day.

Hope this helps. Also Virgin Vapors has sample packs of their juice
If you can find a vape shop that carries their ejuice she could taste some of them. I think their battery sale is a great place to start. If she's a girly girl or someone who wants something girly they're BOGO battery and kit sale is a plus. I believe their tanks are also part of the BOGO sale. FYI their juice is pretty spot on for whatever flavor. If you like plums then you'll like their plum ejuice. Totally taste like a fresh ripe plum. I suggest virgin vapors for those starting off because they're organic and taste is truly like fresh fruits, creams etc

Ok sorry for the rant but wanted you to know what's out there.
