Hello everyone!

This is my 2nd attempt at quitting analogs and I feel like I'm going nowhere. Two years ago, I started with a Titan tank...didn't like the cartridge (the plastic taste)...and switched to a Smoov (with a cartomizer). I was analog-free for about 6 months until I started having problems with nausea and a persistent sore throat. In the end, I gave up my e-cigs and went back to smoking.

A few months ago, I decided to give it another try. I bought a Blu Starter Pack and overall enjoy it...except for the battery. Decided to go with an eGo battery (just like my original) and try a clearomizer. I also bought a mini pro-tank and an Evod. No matter which one I use, the flavor is completely lacking...like vaping air. There are times when I notice a chemical taste that I can't quite place...maybe alcohol? Anyhow, in frustration, I end up reaching for another cigarette. Yesterday, I got out some cartomizers I had left over...the flavor is much better...I put about 20 drops in...but after maybe 50 puffs it tastes burnt. I have been looking at JC Vea and/or Halo G6; I think I prefer the cartomizers.

There are so many options...i just want to have success this time. Obviously, it's an attainable goal -- I've been following this forum for awhile and there are many so many of you that have been successful. I would like to find something that is relatively easy to use, offers good battery life, great taste, and US sourced ingredients. Any thoughts on the clearomizer vs. cartomizer, battery?

Lack of flavor on the BCC could be a number of reasons, including what juice you're using, voltage, etc. Both of my Protanks give off plenty of vapor and flavor to boot.

But it sounds like you really enjoy cartomizers so I'll go ahead and suggest looking into carto-tank setups. I'm not a fan of plastic in my devices either, so one of the better and cheaper options out there is the Pyrex (Glass) DCT Grab some of your favorite dual coil cartos, either pre-punched or learn how to punch them yourself, fill it up and vape on.

Benefit here is you don't get dry hits, much longer time in between refills, and you're vaping in a tank setup so you can see your juice level.

You can buy carto punch tools as well in case you don't want to get the pre-punched ones.

As far as battery I know dual-coils will perform eh... not so well on an eGO unless you have a Twist/Spinner/Winder Variable Voltage. But they work. I'm not actually sure if you can use single coil cartos in the DCT, I'm sure you can but don't quote me on it. They might have their own carto tank sizes, etc.

Here's a nice tutorial showing the basics: LET'S PUNCH AND FILL CARTOMIZER TANKS! - YouTube

P.S. the sore throat/nausea could possibly be a side effect of vaping PG, as some people have a reaction to it. What base do you usually use? If it's majority PG try using a different ratio with lower PG and higher VG. Or even switch to 100% VG.

If you use cartomizers without a tank system, you risk it going dry. Need to babysit it. I started with the Protank 2 and still really like it, but carto tanks are about all I vape now. Easy, great vapor and flavor, long as you mind how much power you push into them and they are very inexpensive. Boge XL LR cartos are a little over a buck apiece and a Smoktecch pyrex (all liquids can be used in these) DCT tank is about fifteen bucks. IBTanked also makes really nice carto tanks in pyrex.

There is a terrific article here by baditude that explains them throughly.

does a cartomizer-tank just contain the fiber fill? Will this work well with an eGo?

No, a carto tank is exactly that. In essence, a tube with two seals on each end. You still have to purchase your cartomizers and put the whole thing together.

If you use Dual-Coil Cartomizers, as I mentioned earlier, they don't perform amazing on regular eGO batteries. If you have a Variable Voltage they tend to create more vapor and work better. But yes, you can use dual coils on a regular eGO, it's just not ideal.

I agree with the suggestion of a good glass carto-tank set-up. Never a burnt taste, no leaking and much more consistency. And no maintenance unlike clearomizers. I would also suggest a better PV such as the VW Vamo or the VW iTaste V3 so you can get more consistency, much longer battery life and much less hassle. VW is much closer to "set & forget".

egos arent variable voltage/wattage & thats what you really want to take advantage of a protank - more power..

a suggestion, take it for what its worth - dont try to save money - buy whatever gear you *need* to get off analogs. something with a monster battery & variable voltage/wattage for evenings & weekends & maybe a spinner or an mvp for work & the car.

ive been using an eroll with high-nic juice carts to get through cravings.. the eroll is regulated to 3.7 volts - also bought njoy kings to go with my coffee..

ive probably got 30 bottles of juice & I still buy more locally if I "need" menthol or chocolate mint or whatever..

i was a 2 pack smoker for over 20 years - and I've been vape-only for a month now.. still having cravings, but now regular cigs just taste awful.. so I just dont see myself ever going back, but should I have a craving I cant handle, I'll try another flavor or a different setup before buying more analogs..

Enoch --- can I get a non DCT carto? So I would just buy a pack of 510 cartomizers to use in the carto tank? Sorry, must want to make sure I understand this correctly. I checked out the Pyrex that you referenced...which be nice to avoid plastic. They look rather large, but it could just be the image.

I'm sorry MsAnge, I hadn't realized how confusing of an answer I gave you. You should think of a Carto Tank (like the DCT) as a container that fits AROUND your cartomizer (any cartomizer)
If you're using a cartomizer that fits on your eGO (510 threading) it will certainly work with a carto tank because the two parts are not interdependant in any sort of way, so long the cartomizer is punched with holes to let juice wick in from the inside of the tank portion.

Step 1.) Get a punched cartomizer, whatever brand you enjoy most
Step 2.) Fit said cartomizer into whatever carto tank you want to use
Step 3.) Vape! :D

Just make sure you're properly fitting the punched cartomizer into the tank so there's no leaking at the bottom of the tank. Just check out that video I linked earlier which shows how a carto tank is correctly fitted with a punched cartomizer, filled, and ready to be vaped.

3 words,

1) Provari nuff said

2) Kayfun or Russian. they are exactly the same just one is $80 less than the other.

3) genesis

I've been a smoker for 37 years.

Since I have entered the World of Vape, it has been 5 months analog free. 5 months that I have not spent $1200 dollars on cigarettes. I know I'll never light one up again. I know this because I do own the above 3 items. And the results are SPECTACULAR!!! Why would I choose to do something that taste like nasty chit, when I have such flavors to choose from, that the quality and quantity of vape makes me stop and say Damn!!! Damn!! that's a good vape.

The years that people have smoked and spent thousands upon thousand upon thousands of hard earned dollars on, and that they are trying to quit by going cheap and buying crap that has no chance to totally satisfy, replace and overpower the urge and cravings of a habit that has them gripped firmly by the balls, teat, or whatever hurts most to your specific gender, I say Shut the Frak UP. Do the math. I did and found that I could of had a Provari and a Russian for all the time and money I wasted on cig a likes and egos and their supporting cheap plastic crappy atomizers, that all have to be thrown out and replaced once they fail, and they all will fail and you'll have to buy them again

Shut up, buck up, and make an investment in your self and buy a quality pvd and rba atomizer, that will provide years of quality service and give you a vape that knocks you on your azz, and every time you take a vape break you will say DAMN!! Now that's a great vape.

I don't want to hear the wining "but I don't want no fancy big vv mod, I don't want to build a coil, I don't want to have all that hassle" SHUT UP! Yes you will!!! Once you experience the vape that is possible, you'll be kicking your self for wasting all the time money and frustration. So just Shut up and do something about it. Do the research, click on your browser and type "reviews on best variable voltage vaporizer, or comparison on this and that mod. go to youtube and search for the device and atomizer you would like to know about. Stop whining why doesn't' the Blu do it for me. Well duh, it's a piece of chit, that's why. A cigarette company owns them and they don't want to loose their tobacco cash cow, but will gladly take your money while you try the Blu, then always come back an light up there cash cow product.

Apologies, but if one takes as much time into researching and reviewing, as they do in posting and whining, they'd find the answer for themselves.

If you have to ask, you'll never find it, but if you know, all you have to do is ask.

Vape On!

Thanks everyone! Are the vw models much larger than an eGo...it's hard to tell by the pictures. Doesn't need to the same size as a regular cigarette; just something I can use anywhere.

Also, I've been reading about variable voltage --- (sigh)...it all makes my head spin. I am willing to try anything that helps me stop smoking for good.

I went through the frustration of poor taste and gurgling with my Protank clearomizer. After fiddling with coils and cleaning I found that by altering my technique, I could produce consistent KILLER flavor, and avoid gurgling altogether. First I dialed down the power to no more than 7.5W. Then I thought that perhaps because the Protank is rather airy, that I might be drawing too hard and that this might be contributing to flooded coils and poor flavor. I eased up and lengthened my draw. Lowe and behold, everything got better; flavor, TH and frequency of gurgling (now never). I only apply just enough vacuum to let my cheeks fill out on their own. If you hear any airflow, you're drawing too hard. Ease up.

This was the most satisfying discovery I've made since I started vaping; well this, and that life without analogues is awesome. Hope this helps you get back on the train.

All aboard the Vape Express, next stop, Aromaville.

Vape on.

Some are, some aren't, depends on which you get. The Provari standard is just a tad taller than a 900mah ego battery. It has twice the radius of an ego, the heft is quite a bit more. well built and solid. but holding it is not a problem. has nice groves in the side, so it doesn't slip in the hand. The Provari mini is actually shorter than an ego 900mah, but with as much girth and heft as the standard Provari. The picture doesn't do it justice. All of the owners are pleasantly surprised, when they receive there P, and are amazed by the build, design, form function, and looks of the Provari. Just ask, we'll tell you. lmao.

Protanks, shmooh tanks, yeah they are a great beginners tank and intro into coil and rba's. deliver fair to mediocre vape and muted flavor. but when I first started using one, thought they were vape heaven. Well I was wrong wrong, wrong. The are just okay. Make a great gift for a friend, once you move on. Fantastic compared to a plastic clearo. for sure, but compared to a Kayfun or genesis style rba, they don't compare.

The main trick for a pt, to make it hassle free, is to let a new coil head have adequate time to soak in juice so that the flavor wicks are saturated. and to not over tighten them. I usually let them soak for 15minutes before the first vape. When I used them.

Wow...thank you dice and godek. Not whining at all...just looking for advice from others who once had to decide what to buy to help "kick the habit"...believe it or not I have researched, but quite frankly, the choices are overwhelming. I am not a very technical gal so sometimes I am a little slow on the lingo.

Not looking for ambrosia or nectar either; and I agree, analogs do taste like burnt newspaper which is another reason I am trying to find something that will work for me. The point of posting was to get advice from others who obviously know much more about this than I do.

Keep it up MsAnge! It took me around a month of experimenting to find what I liked, and I'm still looking for that perfect flavor.

As a small update to my earlier posts, I forgot to mention that there are different sizes of cartomizers and carto tanks. 35mm "standard" or regular, and 45mm "XL". So it does make a difference what types you get, if you decide to go that route. Hmm, come to think of it, I think 45mm cartos would probably work in a 35mm carto tank, although it would look a bit silly... other way around though (35mm in a 45mm tank) probably not so much.

Wow, sorry to make it even more confusing for you, I just didn't want to give you some bad/false information!

I really like Baditude's guides, so I'm gonna post a link that I highly recommend you give a read. It breaks down all the juice delivery devices in a no-nonsense sort of way. Hope you find what you're looking for in your vape quest! :)

between here and there
Provari's are a great product. I own and use several. but they are in a higher price range. There are several vv/vw products on the market that are half the cost. And can get you well on your way. For some members jumping to the top and avoiding all the rest is the thing to do. It's your decision and money so look at a few before making the leap. Some members are raving about the eVic, some like the Itaste 2.0. Decide what you prefer in looks and feel as well as the power to keep you off of the stinkies for good.
I have been a long time user of carto-tanks and you really cannot beat the flavor. The fiber fill holds the taste of the ejuice and by the 2nd tank you have full flavor.
Personally, I prefer jonboys tanks and the Unique tanks. Both are extremely limited and hard to come by. Looking at big daddys tanks and have tried those also. They are good and much more readily available. Unique tanks are here on ecf and jonboy is on FB. If you need links let me know and I will provide them. If not, no harm, no foul.
good luck and let us know how it goes.

:)

I tried to quit twice before. The first time I was using ego-tanks from totally wicked. They worked ok, but they didn't deliver enough nicotine or flavor for me to get off cigarettes for good and I went back to cigarettes. Six months later I bought a vv box mod from madvapes and boge standard resistance cartos, and was like 'whoa, thats awesome!' Then the box died and I couldn't afford a replacement right then so... back to cigarettes, lol. Six months after that I bought a Vamo V2 and an AGA-T+ and I've been off the cigarettes for six months now. Keep at it and you will find something that works, it can sometimes be frustrating, but you will find the setup that works for you. Also, get a back up fro your device so you don't have to go through what I did, lol :p
