Does the Tumbled Raw Mini (http://reosmods.com/index.php?page=...&category_id=9&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=3) have the same smooth feel of the colored ones, or does it feel rough? Thanks!

It's fairly smooth. You can make it silky smooth though but, that will depend on how much experience you have with sanding things down. If you've done some automotive painting (which requires a bit of sanding) then you can get it to a point to where it has a "polished" or a brushed finish to it. Which is what I've done with mine.

I have an original polished Grand and a tumbled Mini that was then polished, after using it for a while as a tumbled. And then a Grand and Mini that I've left unpolished as I love the look of the tumbled. I haven't used them much, as I want to keep their finish pristine as possible until I get the clear gadget skins on them. I've only had the tumbled REOs and "skin" for at least six months but haven't taken the time to apply the "skins" yet.

One thing to keep in mind is that any polishing to remove scratches/gouges will make the piece less tumbled so you have to do the whole body and/or door if you don't like a different finish in a spot. My first tumbled Mini came with a couple of scratches, in the unworked surface, prior to it being tumbled. Tumbling didn't remove the scratches. I could have sent it back to Robert, for a replacement, but I already had plans to polish it up and get another tumbled when they became available. I didn't, at first, realize that the scratches were as deep. So I did some light polishing to try to remove them. This is when I discovered that a small amount of polishing did change the look.

If you want a slightly tumbled look, that shows hardly any "abuse" the silver anodized is a good color. Some of the tumbled shows through but gouges and scratches don't show up very much as the silver is the same color as the bare tumbled aluminum.

Some day I'll get the skins on the Tumbled and then apply them to other REOs to help protect the finish. Polished Grand and Mini will be the next. The "skin" doesn't change the look of the "gadget" but fingerprints hardly show at all. The bare Polished shows fingerprints even if your hands are clean but they are so absolutely gorgeous!!!!!
