My wife came home the other day and told me she had a couple friends from work very interested about vaping. Her mother is also intrigued and works at a large car plant with tons of smokers. We stumbled upon the idea of a of a Tupperware style party for E-cigs. Lets called it a Vaperware party for the sake of this post.

I figured I would bounce it off you guys to see what you all thought.

One of the hardest things about getting into vaping is the learning curve on not only how to do it, but what to get to start. I figured if you got a group of 10 or so people in a room with a couple different models, some e-juice sample packs and a bag of cheap drip tips you could demonstrate and let people sample on the spot. Maybe even have a starter kit as a door prize.

Not only could this help existing smokers, they would go home informed. All orders could be placed on the spot. Toss in a 20% mark up if that is your thing and place the order. I wouldn't be stingy and scammy. I would give them the info they need to find juice vendors and supplies online, but a lot of the people I figure would go to these things would be the less tech savvy of the population so I could control reorders and juice purchase through me if that is needed.

This wouldn't a get rich scheme, just a way to introduce people to vaping and make some liquid money on the side.

Whatcha think?

I think the whole party idea is great :D I'm not sure how I would feel about up charging....although some vendors do have affiliate programs. I did want to let you know that you can get cheap tips HERE
If it were me, I would probably just have a "tip jar" for my time and trouble :)

I think it is a great idea. I don't think the mark up is really a bad thing. you are spending your time to help inform them and also from them being scammed by the dreaded kiosk folks. I think more things like this and more vape meets that we can get the word out about pv's and give people good education and helping keep the non techies going. i've been considering a booth at flea markets to make some cash. But this could also be another way to help family and friends out.

I wouldn't see it as an up charge. 20% is really not that much money, but would compensate you for food, drink, clean up etc.

Vendors have more than a %20 markup and it's not skeevy for them right?

If you got 6-7 orders you could order from china to keep prices down, just have to wait about a week.

I have thought about this too but never did it from a lack of interest of people to attend

I have sold about 6 kits from my flea market booths, but had 3 stolen so I still lost money.

You all make a great point about the up charge. It could be considered a service fee really for those who don't feel comfortable ordering for themselves. I just know that if I had my friends/family over and were encouraging them to stop smoking I would feel bad if they didn't realize I was charging extra and ran across the lower prices later. YKWIM?

Aren't you going to feel a little silly if they go to the website and find they can just order it themself cheaper?

I've never been a fan of the 'home parties' to sell things. You go to these things because you have to and feel obligated to buy some overpriced plastic bowl or candle because you know the person.

I have a KR808, 510 and ego and have people over all the time to show them the kits and how they work. I'd love to see people quit smoking. I ordered three kits last week for people. I don't see it any different giving information to people the same way it was given to me on this board.

The people I am trying to get on to these are people like my wife's mother. I am a northern transplant in a small Alabama town. There seem to be a lot of people that still don't use can afford a computer.

My wife's mother for example is widowed, 55 years old, has been smoking for 40+ years, has a computer but can hardly navigate it and has emphysema. Yes there are still people like this in America and a huge concentration seems to be here in the south.

I hate home parties like those too. But if you could get a supplier that sells e-cigs and accessories to sell you sample kits at a discounted price for people that want to have the parties it would be fun. I know alot of people that love these parties and its a good idea to help friends and family get off the nasty smokes.

I think that you have a good idea if you have a good number of friends and acquaintances interested. What really would be nice is if you had kits they could walk out with. But that would require a 'up front' investment which could get expensive.

Ummmm... I wonder if my church could start an ecig support group! Hey, if they have a motorcycle and a kayak group...

If you did it like a Tupperware or Pampered Chef party all you would do is have a party with some brochures and samples of the products. You inform the guests on how the products are used, showcase some new products, let them sample and help place orders. You would then get a percentage of the total sale either in money or product from the company for yourself.
I would do it if a company would send me some samples to showcase and maybe do up a brochure with thier products *HINT*

I'm doing this same idea locally with Electronic Cigarette Store | Ecigs | Electronic Cigarettes and e-juice by e-cigg! We are having great success so far. The vendor brings everything they have available on their website and the prices are exactly the same in person. You get to touch everything they sell and a hands on demo. It's a really great thing for people new to vaping and for the veterans. They let everybody sample all their juices too. We are ramping up the incentives right now for people to host a party. They are paying hosts straight cash and with a percentage of sales. It's a really great deal for everybody. No pressure, no gimmicks, just a fun time. If anybody in the Philadelphia area wants to setup a party you can PM me. OP, if you want more info about how I'm working our parties just send me a PM and I can forward you our host incentive plan. Find a local vendor who might be willing to do the same thing...

Now that is what I am talking about. Getting the word out and most importantly letting people try them. Most people think that e-cigs are gimmicks and won't order them. I was the same way for about a year until I actually tried them and now I have been analog free for about 6 months.
However I had to learn on my own because I didn't know anyone who had tried them so I have spent a lot of money trying different things. At least with these parties you will get the knowledge and pretty good equipment up front and not these cheapo mall kiosks.
Hey, Tupperware, Pampered Chef and a bunch of others had to start somewhere right?

I had a "vaperware" party last year. My brother had a couple friends interested in vaping so I had them all over and tried to teach them everything I knew at the time. I ordered some stuff from Madvapes and told them what I was doing. Mark and the fine people at Madvapes sent me a couple 510 disposables and an assortment of juices free of charge. They were very helpful.
I sold the stuff I bought at cost and gave away the free stuff. I wasn't interested in making anything off this, I just wanted to promote vaping and maybe help some smokers give up smoking.
