I was considering this exact idea for awhile. But I never was into hosting home parties (or being the demonstrator, I guess), so the initial excitement of the idea wore off. I absolutely think it's a great idea, and a 20% markup is minimal. If you're only making $6 on a $30 kit, there is DEFINITELY nothing wrong with that! Afterall, you do have to bury the cost of shipping somewhere! (Or charge them the shipping - but you could break that out over so many orders, but then it gets messy as to how much to charge each person if you don't know how many total orders there would be).

If you're going to put together flyers or business cards or brochures/catalogs, that all costs $. So does gas, phone calls, your time. Why not charge 20% on your product to cover that cost? Business is not supposed to cost you money - that's a non-profit. lol

GitMoe - I'm in East Stroudsburg (the Delaware Water Gap - where Route 80 comes into PA from NJ). How far are you willing to travel? lol

If you're serious about hosting we could probably put something together. You're kind of far but not crazy far. Send me a PM for details on hosting plans if you're interested...

The more I'm thinking about this, it's not such a bad idea. I just don't know how you'd go about it. If they purchased from you and there were problems, you'd have to deal with returns and warranties and such. I personally wouldn't buy anything without some sort of warranty.

I'd be good to do this in a way that you aren't pushing a particular brand or pv. Otherwise you're not much different than a kiosk.

The more people that try vaping and love it, the better it is for all of us.

It's an excellent idea. Education and hands sampling is the best way to get the word out. Most people only encounter e-cigs at the mall kiosk where they are VERY expensive. One of the other posters mentioned inviting a local vendor to participate and you get a percentage of the sales they make. You supply the place, the people, and the snacks and they do all the talking and demonstrating and you get paid based on what people buy or order. If nobody buys anything, then you and the vendor don't lose anything. The only cost is appetizers and drinks. This is how most home parties work.

If there is no local vendor maybe you could get your hands on some disposable e-cigs (the single use kind with a non-rechargable battery) for your guests to try. If you can get them cheap enough, you could cover the cost or charge your guests to cover costs and they get to keep them. You could work out a deal with an online vendor to pay you a percentage for the orders your guests place.

I like to use the KR808d-1 disposables as an inexpensive way for people to try e-cigs before purchasing a full starter kit.

You would handle this just like any other type of product sold like this:

1) Have a party, showcase the items, and sample the items.
2) Take orders from individuals and submit the orders (at this point your part is done).
3) Vendor recieves the orders processes and ships to the address of each individual order.
4) People who placed the order deal with the vendor directly for any warranties. (With your help if needed)
5) Vendor then pays the host (agreed upon commission) or credits the hosts account for personal use.

An example of payments for host could be:
*5-10% of total sales from party paid in cash to host
*Credit a personal account for the host to purchase future supplies from vendor
* Heavily discounted pricing for host at vendors store
*Bonus incentives for the host if they sell more then $500 worth of stuff at a party more at $1000 and so on.

My ex-wife did this Pampered Chef stuff for 15 years. My entire kitchen was Pampered Chef.

The owners of the store come to the party. You buy directly from them in person. If there are any issues you just call them and they take care of it. They've provided excellent follow up service to all party customers. We're really trying to get more hosts. It's such a fun experience and the host makes money which can be used for free gear on the spot or pocketed.

I like the idea, but maybe not to sell things. Take the hit on the food, alcohol and juice samples, and if they want a particular product like an ego or a mega 510, grab a laptop, go to whichever site has the best deals, and let them order. IMO having people switch is worth way more than the food or drink or 3ml sample bottles.

You could show em how to drip, how to fill carts and cartos, how to clean the products by boiling, PGA or sink, and maybe even bust out a bottom feeder or 5v mod and show them that (but AFTER they try the ego type, so that they don't get discouraged). If you'd like, ask them to bring a bottle of wine or a side dish. I'd even encourage them to bring fellow smokers, maybe husbands boyfriends or regular friends and get the word out.

It's a fantastic idea.

PS: Not to sound like a drunk here, but I think everyone who drinks needs to try vaping while drinking just to establish that it really does quench that cig desire, and that certain flavors can compliment certain beverages. Designated driver anyone?

I dont know how much time I have spent online (I have a facebook group for quitting smoking with e-cigs) and on the phone explaining how to do this or do that. The knowledge I have passed along to them, they are passing along to their friends. I have my best friend in Texas that I have bought a 510 for and will be going down for a vacation in July. I will be taking this with me and SHOWING her how to use it, clean it, fill it, etc. Then as her friends and family start, she can show them what I have shown her. The party thing is a great idea. I would start with simple...510 and last I looked, mypvshop had them for $20. A few 3 ml samples and maybe a door prize would be great. Get them started and be there for them and their many questions? I would pay a little for the knowledge, when I first started. No one told me about them, I just leaped and kept running.
