Or after inserting batts. I was looking at the instructions on my Pila, and it's unclear which way to do it. I've always inserted the batts first. I've seen both ways mentioned, but does it make a difference?
Done some reading on the flash-light forums and there seems to be an 80/20 split in thinking on this one. The majority plug the charger in first then insert batteries. Personally (and this is my preference) is to get the battery is then apply power to the charger. I have more faith in the switch that I am flicking than the charger under my hand while I am holding a Lithium battery (sounds dramatic, but it is what it is) There is also the view that the second method resets the 'memory' (for want of a better word) particularly in the Pila charger. The consensus is however that if you using a good quality charger that it makes no discernible difference. To lay this one to rest we ideally need a statement from the manufacturers tbh.
