There is real rum in Bananas Foster, Butter Rum, Dulce de Leche, Mojito, Pina Colada and Spiced Rum. Amaretto Stone Sour, Peach Melba have amaretto and brandy, respectively. I assume the customize your own amaretto and brandy use the alcohol.

Do any of the other TV flavors include booze? What happens to the alcohol when you vape it? Is it like flambe-ing something where the alcohol burns off and all that's left is the flavor or do you inhale minute traces of alcohol? (If you inhale alcohol, considering the quantity and all the other flavors added, I'd guess it's like 1/4 tsp of 1 proof over the course of a day of heavy vaping.)

Just curious.

You would have to heat up pure ethyl alcohol nearly 700 degrees fahrenheit to get it to catch on fire. At the strength it's diluted to, I don't think this is even remotely possible.

Fuels and Chemicals - Auto Ignition Temperatures

It should just heat up and vaporize just fine. No alcohol should be entering your body though.

Alcohol's boiling point is much lower than what PG's is.
Alcohol=173 degrees F
PG=371 degrees F

As soon as it hits 173 degrees(which happens almost instantly), the alcohol burns off.

And yea, I realized that you weren't talking about it catching fire, but I misread it and looked up that information, so I posted it anyways because it was somewhat relevant. :p

As long as you're not drinking it or getting juice in your mouth, there should be zero alcohol getting to you.

There are flavorings that are alcohol based that we use. There are flavorings that we feel might gum up attys UNLESS we force the attys to run at a slightly higher temperature with the use of alcohol, and there are flavorings, that would otherwise not vape very well without the use of alcohol. So, we do use alcohol.

As a clean and sober person, I am concerned about the use of alcohol in certain things, but from personal experience, I can say that I am NOT worried about using products with flavorings that contain alcohol, nor using a slight bit of this alcohol to improve vapor production.

Why? Because the liquid is brought to the point of vaporization (NOT COMBUSTION). Meaning it is vaporized. Having used these products and paying close attention to the way I feel, the way my body reacts, or DOESN'T react, I can say with a high level of confidence, that I am not worried about the fact that there is a slight bit of alcohol.

Let's remember that we are dealing with the liquid a few small drops at a time, and not a few shots at a time. The trace amount of alcohol that you MIGHT get in the vapor, is minimal enough, that you could guess for days whether it is there or not.

And sorry Darrigaaz, the Strawberry Cheesecake contains none whatsoever. This enforces my point.

Also, the Brandy, Jamaican Rum and Butter Rum flavorings are that exactly, flavorings and have no more alcohol than would a standard Vanilla Extract. (We don't use Vanilla Exract by the way)

This was a "just curious" question.

I've been finding that the more the Bananas Foster ages, the more the rum flavor stands out. And I don't like rum. Earlier today I accidentally added a few drops of the BF doubler to a different flavor and my reaction when I first vaped the carto was "Ew. Did this turn?" Then I realized it was just the rum (which tastes exactly like rum.)

So I decided it would be best if I don't get any of the flavors with rum. I'm still going to try Amaretto SS (I like amaretto) and I'm on the fence re brandy (Peach Melba.)

And all that got me wondering what happened to the alcohol in the vaping process. So I posted the question.

Even if a recipe contains alcohol, it can't possibly get someone drunk -- most of the liquid is PG and VG. What's left has all the flavorings and only a part of that would alcohol. So, out of 4 ml or so vaped, maybe 1/4 ml would be alcohol (spread throughout the day.)

No offense Poeia, just in the forums, you learn to knick certain questions and responses BEFORE they escalate into some particular "scare". And I just saw the potential of a few people getting the wrong idea about flavorings, the use of alcohol, etc.

Sorry the rum isn't agreeing with you, but we were doing our best to follow recipe FOR actual Bananas Foster, which does include rum.

As for the question as to what we use in the Jamaican Rum. It is just a flavoring. We don't add anything to it, we add IT to a lot of things though.

I'm glad to hear that the Strawberry Cheesecake doesn't contain alcohol. I am deathly allergic to alcohol in any form and the one time I tried the strawberry cheesecake I ordered I felt my tongue go a little numb. I had shelved it just because of that, but now I think it's safe to break it out and see if it's gonna work out well for me.

Is there any way I can get a list of which flavors DO have alcohol so I know what I can and cannot order? I would really appreciate that.
