They will work on an rta, if there is room.
When I've made twisted wires, i used over 3 feet. Loss of length was moot.

The real question, is there an uptick in taste? Not in my case..
mine either...but there was definitely an uptick in popping and spitting. I think single strand round wire spaced coils give me the best OVERALL performance. If I want a subtle spike in flavor, I like fused Claptons. 26/36. I found a really easy way to build them using an old Evod coil head...otherwise, it wouldn't be worth it.

I've managed to squeeze twisted dual 316Ls into a Baby Beast RBA, it was tight but fitted.

Honestly though, it wasn't really worth the effort. Not enough difference between twisted and single wire to justify the extra wire used, time taken or amount of shouting involved.

Now just stick to 316L Clapton in my Griffin 25 Plus. Easier and can actually notice a difference.

I never found twisted terribly better. As @Asbestos4004 pointed out, something like a Clapton, or a fused Clapton for extra flavor (I might find it a bit more than less and like them). The other thing you can try is a parallel build. That seems to to be a little boost that's more worthwhile than a twisted.

Cool , will try the parallel build next time, I'm not really wealthy so I'm savoring my wire

I find that twisted wire (26 ga Ka1, mostly) makes a huge difference in flavor...but I like to twist three strands together. I do it in a drill, twist until it breaks, then reinsert it into the drill and twist until it breaks again. It's as good as a clapton, imo, and only slightly less flavorful than a fused clapton.
