Twisting resistance wire?

Over in the iHybrid thread they're twisting wire all the time. The best method I've seen is to loop the wire over, then clamp one end (or just insert a nail to hold it) and attach the other (double) end to a drill. A few pulses of the drill will yield a perfectly uniform twisted wire... Just make sure to meter before putting your twisted coil setup on a battery. I'm using a twisted wire coil in my iHy with stellar results.

Given the same end resistance, does a twisted coil have any advantages? (ie 1.8ohm 30awg, or 1.8ohm twisted 36awg)

It's stronger than a single strand, and has more surface area for vaporizing.

I twist the left over 36ga Nichrome I used for rebuilding Stardust together. I just thread it in a needle and hold onto the two free ends while twisting the needle. I like my coils around 1.8Ω to 2.1Ω so that they are compatible with ego sized batteries. The 36ga with 5 wraps gives me this.
