Correct me if I am wrong in terminology.

Currently I've got a patriot rda. (I think it's an rda like I said still total noob on terms.).
It's for a twisted double coil build. For the first few weeks I had no issues with this build. But as of lately I've noticed a thick almost oily feeling vapor.
Is this caused by too much VG? Because I know my buddy and I had vaped straight VG for a cloud contest. Or would've it been that Fantasia Brand Eliqud I tried? I am thinking that it like ghosted my patriot.

But even after I've re wicked and rebuilt twice now I still notice this strange vapor. How can I fix this?

Or do I need to get a new atty?

Which brings me to the second part. When it comes down to attys. Isn't cloud output based on your coil build, battery, wattage etc?

Or would the same coil builds perform differently in different RDAs, but same battery, wattage, wick, etc.
For example. Would a dual micro coil build with organic cotton in a Patriot perform the same as it would in say a tugboat?

Or does it come down to looks and general preference, budget?

Again I am sorry for all the stupid noobish questions.

Different attys are different. The greatest difference is between types. A than will never, at least until they come up with something new, have the same potential for vapor production as a dripper.

Even among types there are differences. Some drippers are built to produce more flavor and some try for bigger clouds. How it is built also has a huge influence on how it works. low Ohms produce bigger clouds, remember to know what you are doing and be safe.

When you recoiled did you clean the atty? Normal ejuice is made of stuff that dissolves in water so you can wash everything in water and then soak it in alcohol, cheap vodka or rubbing alcohol. That should get rid of anything on the atty.

Some people vape other things and they contain oils. This is a lot harder to clean out and, if you use non recommended substances, you should have a separate atty just for them.

Cheap vodka or rubbing alcohol - either would work. Wash again after soaking in either.

How long long should it soak?

Just the atty part. The disc looking part without coils right? I just recoiled them last night. And don't want to have to recoil. So I could take the coils off. Set them aside and then soak the tray part right?

Sorry for the stupid questions and lack of proper terms.

Ok. Thanks. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Then. I should remove coils prior and set them aside maybe?

Why set them aside? Throw em out and make new ones. It's extremely cheap to buy wire and easy to make.

Too lazy. And I lent my ohm reader to my buddy. Sent from Blood Gulch Outpost #1 using Forum Runner

You probably won't be able to reuse them anyways. Just soak it with the coils installed if you can't make new ones and don't have a way to test.

You didn't mention dry burning? You need to dryburn the coils to clean off the gunk

Fresh coils. Haven't gotten a chance to Vape anything yet got to make sure my ohms did t fluctuate too much.

If I did everything the exact same as last time. Same build, same gauge same twisted Kanthal. Same 5 wrap. My ohms should stay relatively the same right? I don't have my ohm tester with me at the time. Buddy took it for the weekend. But I did everything exactly the same.

I dunno if that means you dryburnt the coils or not.

People normally dryburn the coil at the beginning to check for hotspots and check that it glows from the center going outward.

Anyway:

Another thing:
Insulator pieces.
The rda has an insulator piece on the positive post to separate it from the negative deck.
The eliquid might have soaked into the insulator material perhaps, and that could account for the residual taste?
You might need to dissassemble that rda completely, including the insulator ring(s) and put to soak; there might be residual eliquid around the insulator ring where it presses against metal.

I did the dry burn. I usually do it when I set the new coils in. Fire them up. Then clamp the coils together with a tweezer to get the coils closer together.

I see the little ring you mentioned now. When I get a chance to use it again tonight I'll see if the residual oily Vape is still there. What can I use to lubricate the o-rings on the outside edges of the RDA? I noticed that the cap/mouthpiece part doesn't fit as easily as it did before I soaked it.
