Hi there! So I've all but decided on a Reo, now trying to decide which one (definitely aluminum, definitely not VV)

Here's a few questions I have though:

1. Why are IMR batteries recommended? There are no step-up converters involved, and the regular Li-Ions have higher capacity (by about 50% on average) and protection. Well, protection is arguably not needed in IMR, but higher capacity still...

2. Of the three metal non-VV Reos, would I be able to fit various rebuildable atties in all of them, or only Grand? Isn't the drip well on the Mini v2 same size as Grand?

Thank you!

Commie

Hi Commie :)
For varied RBAs, the Grand is your best bet. The Mini 2.0 and the Mini both would need adapters in order to use most of the RBAs out there. No, the catch cups on the Mini 2.0 and the Mini are smaller than that of the Grand. See here... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/161169-reo-measurements-parts-terminology.html

The IMRs are recommended for the more consistent vape time...and because flaming batteries are scary. No battery is 100% safe, so it's best to know your batteries and handle them with the appropriate care and with safety in mind, regardless of what battery you decide to use.

IMR batteries, AW IMR's specifically, hold their charge at a higher level longer than regular batteries. I don't have it handy, but you can google up comparison charts that show the voltage over the drain cycle, and IMR's stay up high longer with a fast dropoff at the end, as opposed to a long steady decline that you get from most batteries.

If you've ever used an unregulated mod before, you know how great that first hit or two is off a fresh battery, and how it's a steady decline from there until there isn't enough power left to fire the atty. With IMR's, that sweet spot lasts much, much longer.

As far as I know, the Grand is the only mechanical that you can bank on most RBA's fitting into. You can use rebuildables on the Mini and the Mini 18490, but you'll need a 510-510 adapter to provide clearance over the top of the juice well.

Hope this helps! I'm a Grand man myself, you're in for a real treat by going REO.

You might want to consider buying an extra spring too. IF you get a short with an RBA or a regular atomizer the spring in the Reo will melt slightly. Its a safety mechanism so that your battery will drop down and lose its connection. Having a spare spring is good to have and puting a new one in is very easy.

Just an additional note, the IMR's are capable of much higher drain than most others out there, roughly 10c, as opposed to 1 or 2, if I recall correctly. You can read up on such things, but basically, the IMR's are easily capable of handling the drain required by most atty's. Many of the cheaper batteries are pushing their limits if you try to use a LR atty. Overstressing a batteries, especially Li-Ion, is bad juju.

As an added plus, the chemistry of the IMR's (*not* Lithium Ion) is such that IF they go nuts, they will do so by venting GASES, as opposed to FLAMES.

In my particular case, I don't need flames dancing over my face (see my avatar) :)

Yay! Just put in my first order -- a silver Grand.
Time to set up camp by the mailbox :)

Now, once I get the hang of it (shouldn't be too hard after VMod), I'll have to get an A7 or Reo RBA. Mmm SS/cotton hybrid in a bottom feeder, can't wait!

Congratulations! Welcome new Reonaut!

You will get a shipping notice soon, Robert ships quick! It might go into your spam folder, it will be from paypal. It will give you a tracking number so you can watch it's progress.

Make sure someone is home on delivery day. It ships with signature required for delivery! If no one can be home you get a slip and can take it to the P.O. and pick it up.

Uh oh. In my condo setup, the mailboxes are at the division entrance. I hope the mailman can find my house, or I'll have to test the indestructability of my grand on his head :)

The post office has blank forms where you can sign and leave in your mailbox. Just write a note that it is for the package from Reosmods. The mail person should be able to accept that form.

Oh, and the Grand would win! They are really tough!

Actually there is a Hornet RBA that fits Reo mini and Reo 2.0 :), just wanted to let you know ;p. You can find it on ERA rebuildable atomizer facebook group

Corevape is running a coop for hornet rba's on their site. Indyvaporshop.com supposedly will have them for sale next week as well.

Contrary to popular opinion, and dire earth ending warnings, the ERA works fine on the Mini without an adaptor. TAKE THAT, PIETRO!

Jack
Well it does, but it sits on top of the well and you have to extend the center posts. Many people have had their mini short out when they've done this, thus the use of an adapter. I personally want a RBA that works right from the start with a mini!
