Hey all,

I tried searching this site for the following information, but I after a while, I realized I should just ask.

I recently purchased the Red Dragon, (KR808-D2, or E9 model). I searched the 'model specific' forum, but only found one for KR808-D1 models, nothing for the D2(E9). I'm guessing the D2 model isn't so popular. Maybe I'll start up a forum for it, but for now... my question is: are the cartos for D1 and D2 interchangeable? Does anyone have any experience with this?

I know lecig has the blank D2 cartos, but D1 cartos seem to be much more popular and offered by more vendors. I'd like to use D1 cartos if at all possible.

My 2nd question is: What exactly is a pass-thru? I see them talked about all the time, but I have yet to find into on exactly what it is/why they're used/can I (should I) use one with my E9?

Thanks in advace!

I'm not entirely positive if there's a difference between D1 and D2 - my guess is the threadings are the same, but the internals are different...but let me answer your 2nd question:

A pass through is a usb powered eCig. It will function just like a regular eCig, only it will be powered by a usb port on a PC or a usb wall plug. They will vary in voltage. Some even have internal batteries that let you charge while vaping in passthrough mode, and then you can unplug and you're charged and ready to rock! It's up to you if you need/want one, really.

Thanks basilray. My Red Dragon came with a usb charger. I can charge it on my computer, or put the usb into the wall charger and charge that way. I cannot vape while it's plugged in. Is my usb charger considered a passthru? And what's the use really? I heard it may give a stronger charge than the wall charger, although that doesn't seem realistic to me. But what do I know?

Supposedly the difference between the D1 and D2 is that the screw on the bottom of the D2 cartos is taller and thus the D1s are not compatible because they won't make contact. I found another company that carries the D2s in blank and prefilled, but be warned, I know NOTHING about them. They do list an address on their website, so that's a point in their favor. Maybe someone else will have ordered through them. The Better Way To Smoke - KR808D-2 Cartomizers

Edited to add; DonDaBoomVape mentions different brands of D2s in his post here - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ask-veterans/129976-help-i-cant-find-any-cartomizers-my-fifty-one.html#post2043060

No, the usb charger is not a pass through. The point of a pass through is to be able to vape at the computer or from a wall outlet with no loss of power. In other words not having to use battery power.

This might help: Link A passthrough doesn't require a separate battery, and you typically can't take it with you. It plugs into the usb port, and your cartomizer/atomizers connects to it. This allows you to vape, so long as it has a power source.

Thanks for the links! I now see what a passthru is, and I don't think I'll be needing/wanting one just yet. I've only just started vaping a few hours ago.

StormFinch- You've been answering a lot of my questions lately, so I thank you for that. I checked out that link, and might give them a try in the near future. I plan on rinsing and re-using my cartos, so I won't need blank ones just yet.

Thanks again!

You're very welcome Odyssey. I clean my D1s, figure I probably get 80% or more back to working condition this way.
