Two Types of Laziness That Influence My Vaping Choices- Auto vs Manual rigs

OK, so I wonder if other people have this experience. From what I can tell, it seems that most people prefer manual models of ecigs. They complain that the automatic batteries are more often faulty, (and they are), and that it takes a while to get it going so you get a nice cloud of vapor.

Laziness #1: I started with automatics exclusively because I don't like having to push a button (I know, REALLY LAZY). And I am not bothered by the ramping up time of a good automatic battery like a Titan, Fuze, e-roll, or a Vapor4Life Zeus or Dial-a-Volt. V4L's smaller automatics stop working immediately, but the larger ones are fabulous.

One thing I do like about the Titans and Fuze type batteries is their slimness. I like the ecig to look elegant, not like I'm walking around with a toothbrush in my mouth. I had the same issue with tanks/clearomizers, the whole toothbrush looking thing.

Laziness #2: Manual batteries virtually shoot the vapor right into your lungs. You barely have to draw on it, while the average auto takes effort.

Can anyone feel my pain?

What are your reasons for choosing your model?

I like the manual -- because I can hit it as long as I want? I dont want some dumb battery - like a blu (the only auto I tried) -- telling me when I have had enough. I am a big boy, I'll say when I had enough! The blue blinking light for over use? Bite me blu! Ya taste good - but I am in control - not you.
I've seen limiters on almost all the cigalikes and mods that I've looked at. The bigger rigs have timers that are 10-16 seconds, from what I've seen, which would be more than long enough for most vapers, I would think.

But I agree with you about wanting to be in control of your hit duration. I used to hit the 6-second limit on my G6 all the time. Now I "fool" it by double-hitting. I do it without even thinking about it anymore. My Triton's 10-second timer is much more reasonable. And of the mods with timers, the shortest I've seen is 10-12 seconds - many are 16+. And some (many?) may have no limiters at all.

I have both auto and manual batteries in my Halo G6 kit, and I prefer using the autos only because the button on the manual one is really small and hard to find compared to the larger, easier-to-find buttons on my Triton. On the latter, my finger almost subconsciously goes right to it. With my G6 manual battery, it seems I have to spin it around several times before finding the button.

And I've read where others have had problems with auto batteries, but all my autos (2 x Halo and 2 x Blu) have worked fine, and still do. The Halo, especially, has very little lag, so it's never bothered me in that regard.

I would definitely NOT want auto batteries on an eGo style like my Triton, or on any comparable mods, though. I've been pushing my Triton button long enough that an auto just wouldn't feel right to me.

There are good automatics out there. I preferred them for the longest time. For me it wasn't a button thing, though I often claimed such, but a smoking vs. inhaling thing. A good automatic gives you more of the feeling of smoking, in my opinion. Now I'm finding the same is true for unregulated devices. I'm not a fan of regulated manuals. They have a different draw and a different feel, for me.

I no longer use automatics regularly, but that's only because I prefer dripping. I always have, even with my automatics. I just got tired of killing my batteries when I wasn't able to vape my atomizer dry. That's why I mainly use a mechanical bottom feeder now. I still drip on my autos on occasion, because I like the vape and the ritual.

I understand your views completely. I use an iTaste vv most of the time now but I still enjoy an automatic cigalike with a cartridge; it is a different experience, and in some ways better.

The heart wants what the heart wants... so stick to what you like!
The best automatic I found is the Echo. It's a flat-topped 808 battery, so you do have to get creative when finding toppers, but it is outstanding. Very smooth, easy automatic draw with a 10 second cut off and it will neither fire in high winds or from loud noise. I used mine outside when working 8 hour days on the Bay with no issues. Great battery. And those things are hard to kill. I actually modified an eGo-C base and used that to drip on it with a 510 adapter. Worked very well.

I've found that most of the complaints of automatics comes from the poor quality of the switches used in them. That's like not liking manual batteris because a cheap eGo craps out on you after 2 months.

Yes! The switches! They crap out on you! I'm happy to know about another good auto. The Boge LR Cartomizers would work, I think, as will the Vivi mini. There are a few other narrow clearomizers out there, maybe one Innoken? I'd like to know more about that, since I've taken to liking bottom coil tanks more than fluffy cartomizers now. I'm really digging the Kanger II mini and the Vivi mini. I use the latter on the Vapor4Life Zeus because it has a seamless, streamline fit. The Zeus is very expensive, though. I'll try to find the echo now and check it out. Thanks!
I also like the autos, especially the shorter e-roll, because I can bring them to bed and just keep it in my mouth while I read or play with my ipad. I do tend to wake up with a small pile of them under my pillow, though, along with the usual amount of melted chocolate.

I love my Zeus (automatic) and I use it with the mini protank. It's very easy to use when driving (I have a stick shift) and I've never had it fire from wind, etc.

But I'll confess that I have a ProVari on the way, but I don't plan to take it out and about.

I think both autos and manuals have their place if you like them....best of both worlds??
