It's hard to believe that it's been 6 months since I've touched a tobacco cigarette... I actually paused for a second before remembering that I started on Marlboro lights (14 years) before switching to American Spirit (2 years) because... they tasted better! Now, all cigarette smoke stinks... I prefer the Peanut butter vape insead.

I've smoked just about anything that would burn. I started with Marlboro Lights, then moved to Reds, then Camel Wides, then Camel unfiltereds, then Lucky Strike unfiltereds, back to Reds, then Marlboro Ultra Lights, then Parliaments, moved to Japan for a while and smoked Mild Sevens, then generic brands ordered over the internet, and most recently, Marlboro Ultra Light Menthols. Sometimes smoked cloves, tried Nat Shermans, really liked the Moonlight tobacco's Honey Toasted way back in the day.

Nothing comes close to how much I enjoy my PV though.

Started with Chesterfields eons ago. Does anyone even remember those? :D Then mainly Pall Mall and B&H, then More Lights 120s for the last 30 years or so. Then switched to Seneca Lights, cheapies from the Indian Reservation of the same name. And started to cough my lungs out. Thank God I quit! Just bought some Mores on the reservation for my hubby (yes, he still smokes ). They cost $58.00!!! Uuughhhh!!!!

Seems to me Marlboro is losing a LOT of customers! :D

Capri Ultra Light Menthols.

Now let me tell you a story 'bout howz the last time I asked for them went. I was using the self checkout at the grocery store and asked for "Capri Ultra Light Menthols" and - as no one ever knows what they are and they're so discreetly labeled - I added "the ones with the green squiggly on the front..." She leaves for a couple of minutes and comes back and says "We don't have them" and so I'm like... "No, really, you do. They have a green smoke-like graphic on the front..." so she leaves for a minute and comes back with them in her hand and asks me if they're what I'm looking for. She points out that they are no longer "Capri Ultra Light Menthol" - the fine print now reads "Capri MENTHOL JADE".

Seeing as how I cannot imagine me going up to counters across the country casually requesting "Capri Menthol Jade" - uncool! - I feel sure this has contributed to having to move on from them.

On a final note, those cigs underwent like 3 image upheavals since I started smoking them 6 years ago. Why, why, why when hardly anyone knew what they were or - in a store or gas station - *where* to find them in their rows of cigs. I always had to describe them and once I figured out where they were, I always had to instruct the searcher in where to find them (e.g., "no, no, not with the other capris - over there behind that little virginia slims sign"... "yea... down... yea... to your right... just below your hand... yea"). And oh the late nights when I have gotten into arguments with cashiers over whether they carry capris.
Cashier: "What? Um. We don't carry those."
Me: "No. You do. Really. They are kind of a stark white box with a pink, blue, or green smoke swirl..."
Cashier: "We must be out..."
Me: "No... you do have them... really. They're right there..."

Lol Critterbug! I had to do that a lot too, though my cigs weren't quite as 'rare' as yours! For the last 20 years I smoked merit ultra lights regular size. For some reason they were hard to find and i too had to direct the store clerk to them. Finally got in tight with a local cig shop and they always had a carton for me. I'm sure they miss that 60 buck from me every week ;)

I started rolling my own when I was a kid in Germany. (All the 'cool' kids were doing it.) When I moved back to the States I smoked Vantage menthol lights... and then B&H menthol lights... and then Basic menthol light 100's. There were others in there for short periods of time.

I quit for almost a year the day I walked into a 7-11 and the clerk asked me for a dollar and some change. Then I moved and they were under a dollar a pack and I started again! I paid $42.50 for my last carton back in October.

:)

Newport 100's, Salem, Camel Menthol, Seneca Menthol kings, Camel Crush, and now they all taste horrible to me. Seneca Menthol Kings were my very favorite for ages and only 10 bucks a carton when I started buying. A loved on begged me to smoke those if I was going to smoke. Because their supposed to be additive free. Now I believe their 25.00 a carton. My friend's all complained they were to strong, but I loved them.

Interesting question, about "cheapies" compared to "better" brands, and the after-effects of quitting. Hmmm...

I smoked Marlboro Ultra Lights.

When I had quit in the past, I noticed my lungs felt better, but never got the gross cough-up cough.

I have to say this time I notice I have a bit more energy since I stopped smoking, and I don't feel like sh *t so much. Had a slight gross-cough, but it's already subsided for the most part.

I don't know if I'm noticing the "good changes" because I'm a bit older now, and took it for granted when I was younger and had quit. I definitely notice the increase in sense of smell and taste. Never had terribly horrible side effects from quitting though. :)
