It's been awhile, but from what I can recall, 316 SS is the less non ferrous of the two, which you have noted. There is also a type 308 and perhaps others, as well. There are also different finishes, such as mill, 2B, 8, etc.

Having said that, the content of the SS is probably not a factor, considering what we are using it for. I think that the more important factor is the density of the ss mesh and its ability to wick to feed the coil. As such, i think that the thicker the liquid, a less density mesh would be in order and the thinner the liquid, a higher density mesh would suit that purpose.

I am learning about RBAs, myself. So, there is going to be learning curve with lots of trial and error on my part.
