I received an AGA TD in the mail the other day to pair with my brand new Nemesis mod, and I have to admit...I'm quite disappointed.

I have tried many different builds, using cotton, ceramic, and SS mesh...all of them provide the same horrible metallic taste.

I am used to the kayfun method of rebuilding, and I am a bit lost when it comes to the Genesis style. Any hints on how to get the best vape possible?

It's probably being caused by a hot spot, and is a taste most Genesis users know. After using Kayfuns and BF drippers, I will never go back to Genesis types. They don't wick reliably without manually doing it yourself, they leak, and are notorious for hot spots (in my experience, anyway).
Did something turn you off of the Kayfuns?

I wicked AGA-TD with cotton ball wick and it worked perfect the first time; no tweaks needed. I prefer glass tank genny inspired toppers. Some models like AGT do not leak in the pocket. Other models will leak in pocket. None of my genny style leak upright. I have an aqua which is suitable for pocket carry. I'm waiting on glass tank KFL style since I don't prefer plastic.

could be machine oil. i tend to think its not a hotspot because of the varied wicks used, but it could certainly be a hotspot too.

if youre noticing one area of the coil glow hotter than the others, its a hotspot. the key to removing hotspots lies in wire tension. you want even tension along the entire coil. the hotspot is where theres too much tension. either loosen the hot area or tighten the cooler area of the coil.
