Hey I just got my first rba today. I made my first coil with ss mesh in genesis mode and I got a weird burnt taste. Reminded me of the same burnt taste I got from using the crappy CE4 clearomizers at a high voltage. So I tried using it in dripper mode and made a coil with 3mm silica, 4/5 wraps of 28 gauge kanthal. I still got that same bad taste :/ I've tried making a couple more coils and still getting that taste. I dont know what I'm doing wrong. Can someone please help me out? Ive watched and read many tutorials and I'm following everything right but I guess I might be doing something wrong I just dont know what.. Im thinking its maybe the wire but not sure..

Hotspot indeed, the coil should glow from the center out, and the legs (length of wire from the wick to the posts) should be the coolest part of the coil.

While your description definitely says hotspot, it's a good idea to wash all new attys out with warm soapy water to remove any oils or other material from the manufacturing process. I think I remember my AGI (or maybe it was the IgoW) being the most filthy atty I'd ever seen, the inside of the top cap had gunk smeared all over it, it was a mess.
