Uh oh! Blocked sinuses....

Hello everyone. I have been vaping for a couple of months now and been doing some research about nickel and PG. I have had blocked sinuses ever since I started. I am switching over to VG shortly and a nickel free cartomizer to see if these tow things (or at least one) is causing this issue. I've had no allergies or sinus problems other wise until I started vaping.

Is any one else experiencing this or a similar problem and if so, what have you found to help? Thank you. :) :vapor:

You could be one of a few that have a reaction to PG, in which case you'd want to drop down your PG ratio, or move to VG exclusively. A reaction to PG could be a dry itchy throat, sore throat, chest pains (rare, but I've heard cases of it) and I would suppose if it can do that, it'd be possible to interfere with your sinuses, especially if you exhale through your nose quite often.

The only time I had sinus issues from vaping was with one flavor from my favorite vendor....I came to the conclution it was something i an that vape. My daughter did find she had a PG sensitivity...she tested it by getting bottle of pure VG at the drugstore adding some unflavored 70/30 12mg and vaping it exclusive for 3 days she now vapes high VG juices

Thank you for your quick reply. :) I also did some reading on nickel which is used in the battery part of my ecig (I use Smart Smoke Alpha) with disposable cartridges. I can actually taste metal in my mouth and nose. I don't particularly exhale through my nose at least not that I am aware of. I have ordered (can't come soon enough) Green Smoke because they claim they use VG and no nickel in their cartridges. Their claim is that nickel when heated is toxic to the lungs. Sooo, I appreciate your reply. I am so frustrated by this constant blockage and hope I will find an answer soon. :)

You also may want to consider switching to a tank type system and away from cartridges as that adds another possible trigger. We both now use egos/protanks (she uses the minis)...this gives us the ability to completely clean the tanks after each use, the battery life is longer and it is cheaper to buy juices in addition to having a lot more variety

no nickle in stainless steel to even worry about;)

yes her blocked sinuses went away completely,,,she had a weird problem with being blocked and dripping clear fluid from her nose whenever she tipped her head......

she has found she HAS to steep her juice and order extra flavor with the 100% VG so be aware that you may need to do so as well.

I would still suggest you upgrade away from the cartridges if you are getting another system...and them just order some samples of tobacco flavors to try...you will be much happier in the long run

I had a GS kit; I wish I had picked up a Halo G6 instead: the GS cartos are expensive, they don't sell refillable blanks, nor a minitank.

I ended up buying adapters and blanks for my GS, from V2, so I could use refillable blanks.

I've moved on since then, but you should know; $3 cartomizers is very high.

I doubt very much a nickel allergy is your problem, as it expresses as a rash, like contact dermatitis, or blisters. It's a skin thing, not internal. It's most often caused by contact with costume jewelry (base jeweler's metal contains nickel) and sometimes by contact with stainless steel that's plated over a nickel-containing base metal. The nickel in your battery wouldn't be cause the problem unless you touched it directly, in which case you'd experience blisters or a rash.

Hope you find your solution!

Didn't see it mentioned so thought I would pitch in. Are you drinking enough water? I have bad sinuses and both smoking and vaping makes them worse. Drinking water helps out but I still need to take nasal decongestants on a regular basis. PG is worse than VG, I find 40/60 or 50/50 perfect. I'm pretty sure it's not allergic reaction though.

Thanks, you guys are great!! I did some research and a nickel allergy can be anything from skin rash to swelling of internal organs. Yikes! But from what I've been reading here and else where, it does sound more like it's the PG effecting me... The reason I was wondering about a nickel allergy reaction is because of the metallic taste in my nose and mouth at times. I have been better about drinking more water (since I learned about these ecig drying up the mouth and throat. I suppose when I receive my Green Smoke trial cig, I will know in a few days if I like it (VG tobacco 18 mg nic.) or not. I hope I am ok with it, because to be honest, I would rather just use the prefilled cartridge. I'm lazy! :vapor:
