On the recommendation of some kind folks here I picked up a KGO kit as a backup to my Ego. I got a carto tank too, and the bigger size of the tobacco sampler I really liked showed up. I'm in the vaping zone this afternoon, just couchlocked listening to music. :)

This upgrade has enough extra power that I dropped my nic level AND haven't had analog cravings!

But now I've tried a battery with higher voltage (warm plumes of vapor out of this carto), and an alternate feed method (tank cartos). It's just a matter of time before I have a Provari on my desk, isn't it?

Meh! Provari-schmari!

There's other variable voltage PV's out there - the Provari may be good but it's not the be-all-and-end-all.

Why?

Simples - YMMV.

That old slippery slope can lead to the land of extreme wallet-lightening with astonishing rapidity, However, there are escape routes if you're prepared to look ;)

...totally agreed, I'm a Chevy PU kinda guy and for me, buying a Provari would be like me buying a Mercedes just to goto the grocery store...there are PVs out there which will do what the Provaris do and possibly do them better...for example, I have an Evercool box mod(about 50bux) which will not only do what a Provari will do...albeit without the bells and whistles BUT, will do more, such as run a 1.5ohm DCC at 5-6volts without hitting an amp limiter like the Provari...or how about a LavaTube(or it's variants) for about half the price...by all means, if you just GOTTA, then getcha one...I started vaping, in part, to save money, not for it to become a money sucking hobby...as always these choices are yours to make and YMMV..........

I'm the same way. Living my life like the Kinks song Low Budget. My hair is all mine, my teeth are my own, everything else is on permanent loan....

Think when I go get a VV it's going to be a DIY kit box mod. Other good thing about doing things on a lower budget is that if something breaks, goes wrong, gets stolen or whatnot it's easier to replace.

For me I am more conscious about the quality of a product than a brand name. !!!I am not saying a ProVari is bad quality!!! Just that other stuff out there does the same thing for a lower cost. I'm the same way with a cell phone. I don't need an iPhone, all I use a cell phone for is texting and making calls. If I want to get on the internet I use a computer becuase a CPU is a lot better for running the net.

Well your talking to one who slid fast down that slope to the tune of several hundred bucks. BUT! What igot is 2 very good PVs and a bunch of supplies plus enough DIY equipment to last me a year. My thoughts were that I didn't want to get stuck down the road w/o any way to vape if the laws change against us. But that is just my thinking. YMMV as they say and you gotta do what feels right for you. The main thing is to stay off the analogs at whatever cost. That's my hummble opinion.

Bobdog... staying off the analogs is the most important thing :)

Plus vaping is a bit like cooking/easting more than smoking. Smoking, light it, inhale. Not much difference between a cigar and brand X and brand y of cigs......

....Vaping is more like choosing how you want a steak. Broiled, fried, bbq'd.... lightly seasoned, marinaded overnight in the fridge.

Great thing with vaping is being able to have a taste to suit your needs. Never really smoked menthol cigarettes. But there are times when vaping that I crave some menthol, some times I crave a cinnamon. Very easy to have your PVs and juices suit the mood at the moment.
