so i was swapping batteries in my grand and wanted to see how the switch worked. I was watching the firing pin make contact with my battery then saw a tiny little spark. did it a few more times to see if it did it everytime and it did. I'm running 28g kanthal twisted with about five wraps. ID is about 1/8 maybe a tiny bit bigger. resistance coming out to .5 (my reader only reads 0.0) what would be causing the sparking?

Yep, Noalox on the firing pin will take care of the little spark for sure. If you still have all of the stuff Rob sent you when you got your Reo there should be a little baggie with some grey-ish looking stuff. That's Noalox. Dab some of that on the end of your firing pin (after cleaning off the dried up stuff that may be there) and you should be good to go.

i was having this same problem last weekend......i didn't have any noalax and everyone was telling me to use it.......i had some light bulb grease and put it on there and it stopped the sparks......once i got some noalax i placed it on the firing pin and it works like a champ......get some and stop the sparks!!

Because I have a lifetime supply of Noalox (4oz bottle) I always put a dab on it on the top of the battery every time I change batteries. I haven't had to file the firing pin since doing this. The Noalox provides a oxygen free area for the firing pin to touch the top of the battery. When this happens there is no oxidation of the firing pin and thus no need to file the oxidation off.
