It is interesting to note that our biggest American tobacco companies suffered a 5.6% drop in cigarette revenue and a 4.8 % drop, respectively, and financial analysts attribute this to electronic cigarettes. I'm sure the pharmaceutical companies see numbers like this in their "patch" future, and are scared. If, in Europe, there is a rule that everything that has a health value must be pharma-regulated, does that mean that since tea can get people un-addicted to coffee, and contains the same addictive ingredient as coffee, then every single tiny change in any tea bag formulation needs a 5-year approval process costing millions of Euros before it can be bought? Nicotine is only slightly more harmful than caffeine, and deaths from nicotine are exceedingly rare, and usually associated with industry or gardening with chemicals.
