So I suffer from a disease similar to Chron's disease, but limited to just the large intestines called Ulcerative Colitis. It sucks, and I'll spare you the details, but look it up on Wikipedia if you're interested. Anyways, it's been in remission for two years, thankfully. However, I recently quit smoking and BOOM total flare up. I stick it out for half a year ago, but in spite of any medication i throw at it it just keeps coming. So I get so stressed out, I start smoking again, and then, another BOOM, I go straight back into remission

So I get to thinking that maybe tobacco and ulcerative colitis are related. They are! Nicotine has been shown beneficial in 48% of cases in several studies. Perfect, I found out what treats it for me! However, I don't want to keep smoking, as lung cancer is seriously worse

So i start researching other nicotine products I can consume and I stumble on e cigs.

Only problem is that Health Canada is protecting me from myself and making it exceedingly difficult to get to these products.

So frustrated!

Get yourself an ecig, why not. A high dose of nicotine is what you may need. Try 36mg ejuice to start with. It is a very small investment when it comes to your health. I am not a doctor so proceed at your own risk. I have spent over a thousand dollars at least on ecig related equip in the past 2 years. And IMHO the results are far worth it. :)

I know how you feel. I have bee suffering from Crohn's disease since 1996. I have had 6 surgeries and continue to deal with it daily. I noticed when I quit cigs and started vaping in July that my symptoms seam to have gotten a little better. I still have a lot of pain and the occaisional flare-up but I have to say that I feel somewhat better. You should definately give vaping a serious try. I was able to kick the cig habit on the day that I received my first kit. I have only had three or four smokes since July with my last one being three wks ago. Give it a try. Feel free to ask the forum anything. This forum is made up of very good people who are willing to help out.

I can say that all of my docs are in favor of my vaping and encourage it.

Good luck...

One more post, then a short wait, (around an hour), and you can post in the Canadian forum - there may be some good tips there for easier ways to get vaping supplies. I wish you all the very best.

...fight to get what you want and need!!!! This is just anecdotal BUT, my wife has some serious health issues, in conjunction with those, she has severe reflux, diverticulitis , severe restless leg syndrome, high blood pressure, snoring and poly-cystic kidney disease...since she started vaping, she no longer has reflux, her blood pressure has dropped near 30 points, her legs have stopped spasming and her snoring has disappeared...did vaping cause these results, I dunno but, the alleviation of symptoms after 30+ years was entirely coincidental to her starting vaping so, you know what we believe!!!!!!

I suffer from UC as well. I just had the first of 3 surgeries to get rid of it. I am getting a J-Pouch. I know from first hand experience that smoking analogs does help the symptoms of UC. When I started using the e-cig I went into a flair up. The flair up went away when I started smoking analogs again. I went back to ecigs and flair up. It is very frustrating. The last flair up lasted about 2 years untill I had the surgery. Unfortunately chances are the e-cig will not help with the flair up. But, everyone is different so it may help. I believe it is the fact of the chemicals in analogs restrrict the blood vesels more than just the nicotine its self. If you have any questions about my experiences with vaping and UC or just want to talk to another person who knows exactly what you have and are going through send me a pm and Ill give you my email address. with this i can help more than people who do not have this desiese.
