Harbor Freight Tools used to sell some nice wooden chests with many sections and drawers inside it, under the main lid and on each side of it. It probably wouldn't store all the stash some of you have, but they would store a bunch. Not sure if they still have them, but they were around $79 when I bought 1 for each of my brothers for their knife collections.

Also, the old wooden printer's type trays (about 14-16" x 28-32"), are being repurposed by a lot of people for showing off and/or storing their collections of stuff, storing knick-knacks, etc. You can remove some of the dividers to make custom-sized sections in them, to fit whatever you want to show off in them. Give them a good sanding down and restaining, cut felt or other fabric to go in the bottom of the sections for the type...and you've got something really nice. Can hang on a wall or be laid flat and put a glass or Plexi top on it.

Here's a link to go see some that have sold on eBay:

Based on what they're selling for, I should probably put some of my 20 or so that I bought locally years ago, on there!

Of course I am. I always take what I read and see on the internet seriously. ;)

I'm not that far off, and I've got a few more ideas that such upgrade things when I get there...

No pics were applied. Don't know if it's because I'm using Tapatalk or if it's both Tapatalk and desktop version.

I searched high and low for my Vintage Dutch Oak Curio Cabinet and after I found an original did some searching and the reproductions are just as expensive.

I believe it.... Took me months to find my "old school" full size desk on the used market as there's nothing in stores worth getting that comes even close.

I had started to build myself one, but between the effort needed, the fact that I didn't have enough material and to get enough for what I was aiming to do, would have cost me 3-4 times what I ended up paying for this huge desk, which turned out perfect in so many ways.

I went to probably 100 thrift shops and antique stores before I asked a friend at the Museum if he has any idea where I might find one. About a 1/2 hour later he called and said he has something but he has to find it first. Another half hour later I was loading in the truck and it went straight into the wood shop for some repairs and polishing. Now it is so full I am trying to located another one.

Now here's something The Cranky Sqounker would love to have. It's really an Apothecary's Cabinet from 1730.
