Harbor Freight Tools used to sell some nice wooden chests with many sections and drawers inside it, under the main lid and on each side of it. It probably wouldn't store all the stash some of you have, but they would store a bunch. Not sure if they still have them, but they were around $79 when I bought 1 for each of my brothers for their knife collections.
Also, the old wooden printer's type trays (about 14-16" x 28-32"), are being repurposed by a lot of people for showing off and/or storing their collections of stuff, storing knick-knacks, etc. You can remove some of the dividers to make custom-sized sections in them, to fit whatever you want to show off in them. Give them a good sanding down and restaining, cut felt or other fabric to go in the bottom of the sections for the type...and you've got something really nice. Can hang on a wall or be laid flat and put a glass or Plexi top on it.
Here's a link to go see some that have sold on eBay:

Based on what they're selling for, I should probably put some of my 20 or so that I bought locally years ago, on there!
