Just got a 5v box mod today with a charger and two Ultrafire 14500's. I put them both on the charger for about and hour and checked them with my voltmeter. They both read about 4.1v so I popped them in the mod, and I got nothing. I wound up taking the batteries out checking them again. One was at 4.05v and the other was 0.0v?!? I put it in the charger and the light stayed green. I took it back off the charger and it now read 3.5v. So I put it back on the charger and kept checking it every few minutes. Now it reads 4.18v, but still won't power the mod. I even took both batteries and stuck them on an atty one at a time. The good one lit it up, the bad one dropped straight back to 0.0v. I assume that the protection circuit is tripped, but I can't find anything on how to reset it except to put it back on the charger, which obviously isn't working. Can one of the veterans who have experience with these batteries help me out, I don't have any more batteries to use, they are on order already though. Thanks in advance.

Well that sucks!! Really sounds like a bad battery and that you'll have to wait until the order comes in. BUT... I'd suggest posting this on the general forum, edit your profile to say what city you're in or close to in Georgia and ask if there is anyone close with a 14500 battery. We have people all over and it is very likely that you could get one (for a price, or on loan until yours comes in) maybe tonight or tomorrow. I have no other 'tricks' on resetting but perhaps someone else does.

PMed Scubabatdan and he gave me this to post - he's very busy....

"I have tried this in the past, Connect a LED up to the battery and allow it to drain the battery completely, then recharge as nomal. It might allow the battery to properly recharge completely. If this does not work then there is a probably a problem with the charging board if it has a PCB. Or the battery material is corrupt and not holding a proper charge.
Hope this helps
Dan"

Thanks Dan!
