Maybe I'm wrong but I was under the impression more than 90% of vape products on the market are made in china.

I don't know where that figure comes from but 35.6% of all consumables purchased in the US (in 2010) were made in China, including your recommended Kangers, Vivi's and eGo's. I imagine that percentage is higher for our hobby. The only US made device that I know of is the Provari and we all know how horrible those are :). Is the AC9 machined in the US or just designed?

But what good is a ProVari without batteries, a charger, something to put the juice in - and oh yeah, where do the bottles the USA made juice goes into come from? ;)

The easiest way to get into vaping is to use cartomizers with an ego or kgo battery. They have long life, last all day, and vape well. The cartomizers will have a certain ohm, or resistance. This needs to be properly paired with the voltage of your mod. For the ego and kgo mods i would reccommend either bogue or smoketech cartomizers with a resistance of 1.7 ohms. That will give you a great vape and all you have to do if you get a dry hit is drip a few drops of liquid in and keep goin. From there you can experiment with whats out there and going to grimmgreen's or pbusardos youtube channels will give you in depth information and unbiased information about everything in the vapeworld.

Also, does anyone make their own juice or is that just not done - not trying to sound dumb, just don't know.

Hey Logjam. Welcome to the forum sounds like everyone here is giving you great advice. Just a heads up though, once you decide what you want to get, shop around some. You might find it cheaper somewhere else. Also I just got into making my own juice a few months ago. There's a section on here devoted just to that if ya wanna check it out. DIY E-Liquid

That sounds great! I appreciate your help. What I have learned in these few pages would have taken me months to find on my own.

Just a word of caution, and of course its my own opinion,bc there are some people who genuinely like theirs - dont get a cig-a-like just bc it looks like a cigarette and seems more simple.I paid almost $300 for a ginormous kit for my husband and I,after researching many hrs online.Unfortunately, when you do a google search on "most popular e-cig" etc, youre going to come across cig-a-like websites almost 99% of the time.I didnt even know what an ego style battery was and hadnt come across a single site suggesting them until I found this forum (after I had already ordered my cig a like kit unfortunately)

Anyways, they ended up being so horrible that we dont even use them at all now, after trying everything we could to fix the problem. And it was a V2 kit, which is one of the most popular, most advertised brands out there (especially in google searches) I thought the thousands of great reviews they had meant I was making the right decision, but I seriously regret not finding this place first!

Point being- listen to the advice youve already received and focus on learning more about the ego style batteries, probably the twist kind since its variable voltage, that way if you dont like the vape you can adjust it to suit your taste and needs. That may sound like a foreign language right now if you havent read much here yet,but I promise its super simple once you put in some time here.Ive been glued to this forum for literally HOURS a day trying to learn and absorb all that I can!

My advice is to spend some time in the forum. Check out the various categories and topics and just read, read, and read some more. There is a tremendous wealth of information here by many experienced folks. Don't let it overwhelm you, it's a lot to digest...just take it one post at a time. Get familiar with the forum search features...every question you have and will have in the foreseeable future has been answered many times in many different places here. Everyone is pretty friendly and helpful. And keep in mind that many things you'll read are subjective, such as how e-liquid tastes, and whether cartomizers are better than clearomizers. Those are things you'll have to figure out for yourself by trying different setups until you find what works best for you. And....welcome to the forum!

At what stage are you? Have you bought a device yet?

My beginners' advice.

Avoid anything made in China
Have backups for your backups
Clearomizers are the simplest to use
Cartomizers seem to be the most popular thing right now but there's a bit more of a learning curve
Remember the following words: Kanger, ViVi, and eGo Twist

There's a lot more but I have to go to bed too soon to type it all out but hopefully this'll get you started.

Hey Intelligent designer. I wish I could have read this a week ago! I ordered an eroll online last week, it should be here tomorrow. But since i'm extremely impatient, I went to a retail location and bought a ego Twist with kanger mt3 and a vivi nova!! You are right, its the best set up for a beginner. Definitely get a second battery!! mine died when i was out and i ended up smoking an analog :(

Yes, definately have backups. Don't you dare feel bad about smoking ONE cig though! Progress not perfection! I only say this because feeling terrible about relapsing has caused many addicts (of other things) to OD because 'oh well, I already relapsed, might as well go all out'. In our case, it could easily become, 'well I already smoked one, might as well buy a pack'. Stuff happens, just be proud of yourself for being on the right track. :)

 There is just soooo much information out there, I would like to avoid using trial and error to learn about what is available and what to watch out for (as far as vaping goes ;)), so any info. or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

heres a couple of ideas for you to get you started

eGo Twist Double Starter Kit -Stainless color by Jolly
Vision Spinner Tank Combo
EGO Kit - Mac Daddy VapesMac Daddy Vapes

Easy to use starter kits. May be able to get for cheaper if you put it together yourself but this gives you an idea of what to get.
