Um, a little help here . . .

Hey LogJam,

I would say start with an EGO style battery that does variable voltage (EGO Twist, Vision Spinner). You might not understand it all right now however eventually you will want VV.

You can try cartomizers (known also as cartos), or anything else mentioned (Kanger, T3, Vivi Nova) above will get you started and suffice you for the near term (or possibly forever).

anything that you put on the ego battery, should stay at or below 2.0 ohms (ohms is a measure of resistance). Once you start picking things up you will start to understand that the battery has a dial on the bottom of it which determines how much voltage is sent to the device attached to the battery.

What this translates into is how much heat is produced based on the voltage and ohms (resistance) the device has. Modifying the voltage can make a bad tasting juice taste good, or make a good tasting juice taste bad. Basically it allows you to "dial in" the taste for you based on the device you have on the battery.

I'm on a regular keyboard now (posted my first post from the Wii U!). I bought a KGO from Hoosierecig.com and have bought most of my hardware from them. They are comparatively inexpensive, their shipping is fast, and they've been very responsive when I have questions. I got custom ejuice from them that was 100% VG (my first juice) and it was okay, but I'm haven't used them since for juice - I may try again with different flavors and a different PG/VG ratio, since their prices on juice are good. Most folks will tell you not to buy juice from your hardware vendor, and vice versa.

My KGO is 1100mAh. They are about the size of a sharpie marker, and hold a charge really well. I go almost all day without having to move to my backup. The kit they sell runs around $43 I think, and comes with two batteries and two clearomizers and a charger. I would recommend getting some black or stainless cartomizers as well so you can try both (plus, if you get a citrus or cinnamon or other more caustic juice, you don't want to put them in anything plastic like a clearomizer or it might crack. At first I thought I'd save a mint because I could get 50ml of juice for under $20, but you don't really want to start that way. (Otherwise, you'll be tossing out 50ml of juice you might think is gross). Try out samplers, or bottles around 10ml from different vendors to see what you like. It's more expensive to start, but once you find your go-to flavors from your go-to vendor, you can start buying larger quantities which will save you over time.

I'm still pretty new myself - quit analogs for ecigs in January. I've since picked up a Vision Spinner (like an Ego Twist) and I like it fine, but don't find a huge difference in how I vape vs. with the Kgo. You can shop more more advanced stuff later if you like, but I'd start simply if high-tech is not your thing. :)

as far as I know only the provaris AREN'T made in china?

Well, technically they aren't, but I wonder where the little buttons and microprocessors are made? Plus, as i posted earlier, they need batteries, a charger and delivery systems - so we're back to China.

Somewhere out there
I've done a lot of shopping around in the last month or so, and the most reasonably priced ego type kits I've seen are from High Desert Vapes. I didn't get their kit, but I did buy two ego batteries from them, a 650 mah and a mini. They carry the ego twist too. You will want 2 batteries at a minimum so you can use one while the other is charging. (pick the Ce4 instead of the tank type if you do get one of their kits).

For e-juice, look at Ecblends and Mt Baker Vapor, both have prices low enough to try a lot of different flavors until you figure out what you really like. And they both let you customize the PG/VG ratio.

I really like the Vision Vivi Nova, but they seem to be hard to find in stock right now. Kanger t3s and evods are OK too.

Someone recommended 2 ohms or less for ego batteries. For me, that's too low. I guess I enjoy a milder vape and 2.4 to 2.8 works best for me. The Vision Vivi Nova will come with 3 heads, 1.8, 2.4 and 2.8, so you can switch them around and figure out what you like.

It sounds like a huge trial and error process, but I've enjoyed trying out different things.
