So my charger for my 18650 batteries is making a weird noise when its plugged in. I've tried taking it out of the power strip and plugging it directly into a wall outlet and its still making the same noise. It almost sounds like a lightbulb heating up. It is constant. Its the only charger I have and I don't really have the money this week to buy a new one. Which means, with shipping, I wont have a new one for a while if I do need to buy one. Am I okay? Is this at all normal? Its a cheap charger. Probably $3.99 or around that price. Anyone have an opinion?

I would be very cautious if you risk using this charger. If you do, keep an eye on it, check the battery every 10 minutes, and if it gets hot, take it off and wait for a better charger. I highly recommend the Xtar WP2 Mkii. It's dead silent, never gets hot, and is a pretty smart device. Not to mention everyone who gets this charger is exceedingly happy with it.

If it's making a noise now and it wasn't happening before, then there may be something in the electronics that is getting ready to fail. Personally, I wouldn't use it and I would go to my backup eGo batteries until I could get a replacement.

I know you've heard it before, but backups are important, and this applies to chargers as well. Also, for the sake of safety, I always recommend using decent a smart charger for Li-ion batteries. You'll pay more for a good charger, but your safety is worth it. I have the Pila and XTAR WPII 2, and both have been working great and without incident.

ugh i was afraid you'd all say that. I'm the type of person that really can't afford to be buying new chargers. I am getting a new charger from madvapes with my telescope mod as soon as I save up enough money... but its another $5.00 charger. Except this one, I can apparently charge different sizes with it. The charger I have now only charges 18650s which is why I'm getting the new one soon. (I want to use 18340s in the telescope mod, for a smaller mod with low res cartos) ..... Idk what to do. I don't want to spend over 100.

I'm going to try to just keep an eye on the charger I have now until I get the new one, and when I get the new one I'll try to use it for the most part and I'll use this charger as a back up. I already refuse to go to sleep or leave the house with a battery on the charger as it is so I'm happy being careful... I'll just use it as little as possible once I get my new charger. Hopefully that one wont make noise. I also noticed that using a 510 usb hub with my eGo 400mAh battery made my eGo bat get warm so I'm now only going to use the universal usb eGo chord with an AC outlet plug with that. Boyyyyy this whole vaping thing has a big learning cord. I'm lucky to have a complete infatuation with everything vaping. Like, its a good thing that I'm asking these questions.. because I know to ask them. Its a good thing I know that a buzzing charger can be dangerous. We definitely need to educate. As much as possible.
