Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Been lurking and reading the last several days and first I'd like to say thanks to the great information in the Forum .. I have most def been educated ..

My story, in a nutshell .. had a heart attack and a couple stents 3 years ago .. smoking for close to 40 years certainly helped with that, but I was also the type to eat a quart of Ben and Jerrys and chase it with a big block Hershey bar .. at any rate, got the standard "Stop Smoking" rap from my cardiologist and the minute I got home from the hospital, lit up a Marlboro Light ..

Don't like taking drugs to quit, gum seemed like a scam and I'd pretty much roll the patch and smoke it .. so, I bought an early edition njoy on a whim back then and paid about $120 for the kit .. that lasted about 3 days .. and I went back to the cigs .. 2 months ago, I decided to break the old njoy out and discovered they no longer made any carts or what not for my model .. the folks at NJoy were still kind enough to exchange it for me with a new model for an evan $20.00 .. and sent a complete kit with 10 carts as well .. soooo .. to make a long story short, I've been using the NJoy for the last 6 weeks and have not lit up (I swear) .. I think I just must have finally been ready mentally to do it ..

I'm about ready now to take the plunge further into this tech .. while the NJoy does not seem to get a lot of love on the Forum, I'll say that as an ignorant user up until I stumbled on the Forum, it's been working for me so far .. and that's what really matters .. no .. ??

So .. today I ordered some flavored carts from UnrealCigarettes based on recommendations I saw posted .. cherry and apple .. (they don't have a huge selection and I really want to give the flavors a try) .. also, since being the packrat that I am I saved quite a few of the empty NJoy carts .. I ordered a small bottle of menthol e-liquid just to try my hand at refilling some .. (hew has a nice video on the website) ..

Question #1 .. NJoy regular shows 1.8% Nicotine by Volume on the label .. I ordered prefilled carts with 12mg (Light) .. how does that compute .. ??

Question #2 .. Is there a perfect e-cig .. ?? I've read a good portion of the threads and there is a lot of opinions .. but it seems like a few models consistently come up .. If I'm gonna do this thing, I want to do it right and not spend a ton of money on experimentation .. (I'll leave that to you folks that have already done a fine job reviewing these units) ..

So, that's it for now .. sorry for the long post .. and muchas gracias to all of you that have posted all the great info, videos and what not ..

1. I think the 1.8 is equivalent to 18mg/ml...so what you ordered is a step down in nicotine level.

2. You're right, there are many opinions. There really isn't one perfect e-cig because everyone has different needs and expectations for their vaping experience so it really depends upon the individual. I think most newbies are looking for something that looks and feels like an anologue with as little prep as possible --'plug and play' as it were...however, once over the initial transition to ecigs, needs and expectations begin to evolve somewhat and things like 'power', battery life between charges, amount of vapour, and throat hit become more important than the cosmetic aspect of the device.

Congratulations to you on the switch and wecome to ECF!!!!

I read a post yesterday by rolygate .. to paraphrase .. "A correctly working e-cig produces large clouds of vapor .. more than a tobacco cigarette .. it tastes fabulous, the flavor can be changed as needed, the throat hit and vapor temp can be adjusted to the precise value required, the nicotine strength is right on and no withdrawal pangs are experienced by the average user, the nicotine strength can be reduced in the evening and in general, the user is highly satisfied .." ..

What's the closest model to that description .. ??

Answer #1: 12mg means there are 12mg of nicotine per ml of liquid. I'm not sure how that would convert to percent by volume though. The mg per ml measurement is the standard for most vendors, though. Also, 12 might be a little low for you. I smoked a pack a day of Camel lights and I've found that 24mg works best to curb cravings during the day and then I switch to 18 when I'm chain-vaping at night.

Answer #2 varies from person to person. Do you want long battery life? Realistic look? Big, hot, cig-like throat hit? Big capacity for liquid? In other words, there probably is a perfect PV for YOU, but not one that is perfect for EVERYONE.

Edit: Man, I type slow on my phone. There were no replies when I started typing this.

Hahaha...I'm not quite sure THAT particular device exists just yet....if it did, we'd all be recommending just one device here on these boards!

between here and there
hello and welcome to ecf. I too was a 40 + yr smoker, but luckily no heart troubles, yet. fingers crossed.....
If your nic cravings are being satisfied with your current set up, then go with it.....but if you think you are still struggling then you will need to upgrade in order to be successful. I use most eGo's and Riva 510. I do tho, have a buzz and a provari that i use on occasion...these are variable voltage mods that can really blow your head off.lol
When you are ready come back and ask....look around the forum, loads of info and great members.

Thank you .. based on my experience with the NJoy .. I would say first that the style is not a big deal to me .. it does not have to look like a traditional cig .. I smoked Marlboro Lights / Ultra Lights / Doral Lights for the last several years .. and I kinda like the feeling of smoke in the throat .. which the NJoy really does not do .. I also like the idea of the various flavors, since I don't think the NJoy carts do a great job actually replicating the taste of a real cig .. so I guess at this point I'm kinda in the middle ..

There is no perfect PV just like there is no perfect juice, flavor isn't the only thing that is subjective.

The best thing to do is read and watch videos, figure out what it is that you want out of your PV then find which ones fit that criteria. Here is a good place to start, earlier today I listed a lot of the new technologies available in PVs. Read though this and see what it is you may be interested in.

Uncle willie,

after reading this i may be able to help you and not really break the bank persay but be prepared to make a little investment the first time around...... first off i think you would do well with an Infinity sold from Notcigs dont let the price tag scare you away it's a great system. Then i would recommend getting a few different carts from GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more im currently using the smoke tech dual coil cart vapor production is awsome but i also replaced the cap with a stainless steel drip tip. GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more also sells e-juice i have a few bottles from them and they are great tasting. for the most part i do buy my liquides from tastyvapor.us great selection and they are made per order so when you get them let it steep for a week or so to realy bring out the flavor. there is just so much more i can add to this but this should get you started of right if your willing to spend a few extra bucks. Hope i was of help to you and once agean welcome to ECF

I'm probably still in denial, but I don't think the smokes were the major cause of my heart health issues .. after 6 weeks on just the NJoy my need for a real cig is pretty low (Really, I'm not kidding) .. however, after spending time reading many of the threads, I'm convinced I'm using a second rate device .. and that there is much better out there ..

Also if the price tag does seem to a little steep for starting off i would like to give you my second e-cig recomendation. for you sence your using the njoy wich is a 510 3.7v mabey it is the right e-cig for you and you just need to try a different atty or cartridge. i have a Inferno from volcanoe-cigs it is also a 510 3.7v same as the njoy and bassically the same system but i like there atty and there new primium carts they make a lot better tast is awsome the TH is not that high though but for the most part it is pretty cheap off there website and you can buy bottles of liq from them with a cart refill kit for 10-15 dollars and the shipping is extremly fast they got me my new attys and carts in 5 days to a base in afghanistan. none the less hope thats a good second choice for you.

In the last few days, I've watched videos and read a ton of threads .. I wish there was some way to compile the various opinions into a chart that would rank the various units by popularity .. and I've not even scratched the surface yet on flavors and that .. I feel like I've discovered a whole sub culture ..
